"Your soulmate, Shadow. You've found him,"

She sat on the edge of her bed, thinking her whole decision over. Suddenly, it didn't seem so great for her and her family. Rosalie and Alice were sad, and Renesmee would miss her little sister.

The sun flowed in from her open window, streaming through the gaps and giving her room a nice glow.

A knock sounded on the door, and Shadow sighed, before getting up.

As soon as she opened the door, she came face to face with none other than Demetri Volturi.

"Hello, Demetri, what do you need?" She asked flatly, no emotion in her voice, and her face was unreadable.

"Master Aro requires your presence in the throne room, princess," Demetri smirked, wondering if she'd caught the most important bit, Princess.

Looks like she had.

"PRINCESS? What are you talking about? You know what, I'm not even gonna bother," She glared at Demetri, before storming past the smirking guard and down the hallway to the throne room.

Demetri smirked as watched her figure disappear through the doors, before following.

As soon as the hybrid entered the throne room, Aro greeted her with a very creepy smile.

"Hello, child! We would like to offer you something. Because of your abilities and your status with the Cullens, we'd like to offer you the position of Princess of Volturi!" Aro said joyfully.

Shadow mentally facepalmed. Ah, so that was what Demetri was talking about. And Aro was hyper.

"Sure," She replied calmly, unaware of the turbulence that was going to happen next.

She could feel eyes staring intensely at her, their gaze unwavering. It intrigued her. She tilted her head slightly, and was met by beautiful crimson eyes, and she felt lost inside them. Her mind started to wander, and then, without a doubt she knew he was something special.

Then she realized. He was one of the witch twins.

Alec Volturi.

He was staring at her with a stoic, blank expression, no sign of him even feeling anything towards her. She felt her heart crack and shatter into a million pieces inside her, and even though she couldn't explain why, she felt...

Empty.

Lost.

Broken.

As if her heart had been stolen. The life leaving her, flying free like an invisible bird she won't ever be able to catch.

"Your soulmate, Shadow, you've found him," Marcus suddenly spoke up in a ghostly voice, sounding like he hadn't spoken in a long time.

She jumped out of her state, and her head immediately snapped back to face the Volturi leader.

"I'm sorry, what?" She asked, clear disbelief and shock in her voice, and her eyes were wide. "Tell me you're joking. He doesn't feel the mate bond, I'm positive,"

Marcus blinked, then, tilting his head, he then sighed. "It's... true. You... are not his soulmate, but he is yours, that's why," He explained slowly, "I have never seen this type of bond before. It's... surprising,"

Aro nearly ran over to Marcus, taking his hand quickly.

After releasing his hand, Aro nearly fell over, a huge smile on his face. "This is awesome!" He cried happily.

The guard stared at him in shock. Aro never acted like this. This was a first.

"Well, well, well, looks like our dear Shadow has found her soulmate! However, it's not a two way bond," He sighed, clearly delighted but confused at the same time.

At that same moment, the doors opened and a vampire walked in. She looked almost identical to Bella Cullen, but prettier.

"Mom?" Shadow asked suspiciously.

The vampire turned, and her eyes widened. "I'm not Bella, I'm her twin sister, but I can't stand her. Are you Renesmee?"

Shadow hissed. "So no one knows about me. I'm Shadow, Renesmee's twin sister," Her fists clenched.

"Shadow..." She muttered, "Well, dear Shadow, I'm your biological aunt, Jade," Jade smiled.

Shadow gasped. "Jade? No... It can't be. Bella... she said you were killed," She rubbed her eyes, but Jade was still there, perfectly real and solid, staring at her with soft, kind eyes.

"No, dear, I'm alive. I faked my death to get away from my sister, my careless, idiotic sister," Jade explained softly. Walking over to Aro, she bowed.

"Master, you require my presence?"

"Yes, Jade, I'd like you to escort dear Shadow to the training room, and test her," Aro instructed, "I need to discuss some things with my elite guard,"

Jade nodded, before turning back to Shadow. "Come on, Shadow, let's go," She called, striding out of the room. As soon as they left, the tension was stretched.

Jade led the hybrid into the Volturi training room.

"Okay, Shadow, I want you to use your abilities on me," She instructed.

Shadow glanced at her and waved her hand to use her first ability. Telekinesis.

Jade narrowed her eyes. She used her hand to do a flipping motion and deflected Shadow's ability and created a hole in the floor.

Shadow's jaw dropped and her eyes widened. "W-what is your ability?"

Jade waved her hand and the hole disappeared. "Shadow, I'm not going to tell you just yet. It will be too much for your brain to handle, being half-human. Eventually, we are going to have to turn you fully vampire,"

Shadow staggered back into a wall. "W-what? B-but I like my life as a hybrid!" She cried, barely above a whisper, but loud enough for Jade to hear.

"I know, I'm sorry, Shadow. It's just the way it is," She murmured gently. "Go get some rest. We can talk about this in the morning," She opened the doors and let her out.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be problematic," Shadow apologized, her eyes genuine and apologetic.

"Hush, little one. It's not your fault," Jade led Shadow back to her room and stared at her softly. "Now get some rest so we can chat tomorrow,"

Shadow nodded softly, and gave her a small smile. "Thanks, Jade,"

Jade smiled angelically. "Anything for my niece," Stepping out of the room, she closed the door behind her.

If Bella won't love her, then I'll love her like my own
