Aurora
I watched through the window in Ronan's room as more and more students returned from their missions.
There was a lot of joy in everyone's eyes and primarily relief. I felt the same every time I saw someone familiar return and it hurt to know that not everyone was as lucky.
This was bigger than Ronan and me. This was bigger than this whole generation.
Meeting Ronan's father tomorrow would be one step in a very long path of clearing the ghostly out, once and for all.
A lot of people had attempted it but nobody had ever been as close as us.But it was scary, even the thought of meeting his father alone made me tremble.
Then how could I go into hell to defeat the ghostly if I wasn't even brave enough to face a mere dragon shifter?
Undoubtably he was the center of a lot of people's nightmares but he shouldn't intimidate me.I sighed and turned away from the window where I had wasted way too much time already.
Instead I was now facing Ronan who was sitting at his desk, replying to a stack of letters with visible bags beneath his eyes.
Sleep hadn't been good last night for the both of us.
For me it was that I couldn't forget about what my mother had said about me.
For him it was what his father would say in the future.Still, it was nice to know that you weren't the only person that couldn't sleep despite being exhausted.
"Here it is" Ronan said after he had picked a new letter from the stack.
"The one from your father?" I asked although I was sure that it was.He nodded while skimming through the lines, probably used to his father's style of writing.
"It's like I expected. He wants me to come over which means he wants something from me" he said grimly. I wanted to take the letter from his hands and rip it into pieces for carrying this piece of shit's words.
"When does he want you to come?" I asked.
"As soon as possible" he scoffed and looked at the other letters on his desk. Right, as if he hadn't already had enough to do.
"Let's get it over then, let's go tomorrow" I said to which his eyes slightly darkened. His fingers clenched around the paper so tightly it almost ripped before he abruptly put it to the side.
"I'm going to finish all of this and then we can finally go to bed" he sighed tiredly while rubbing his eyes. It was still midday so going to bed felt a little silly right now but desperate times called for desperate measures."Yeah, let me just grab my bag while you finish here" I told him and said a quick goodbye.
The way to my dorm was pretty empty since most people were staying in the community rooms and outside at the moment because nobody could really stand being alone.
