CHAPTER FOURTY-THREE
❛ back at ua ❜"I'M SO GLAD you're all okay." You sat beside Katsuki in the village infirmary, which was ran by Ren's mom, Aiko. "Your father is already looking better. Bakugo, on the other hand, might need a few days to recover." He was completely knocked out, the poison taking quite the toll on his body. Luckily, using her quirk, Aiko was able to combat the poison. Her quirk; sweat healing. One sip of her sweat was able to heal anything— quite literally anything. It was a bit gross, but it was better than being dead, right?! Across from his bed lay your father, who was holding up just fine.
"That bastards probably on the electric chair by now." Your father chuckled, holding up a shaky thumbs-up. "I gave him a little taste of my mind before the authorities showed up. Now, can someone take me to the bathroom?!" Ren, who sat in the corner, let out a stifled laugh. Aiko chuckled as she helped him to his feet, guiding to the bathroom out in the hallway.
"I know he's not your boyfriend." Ren spoke up, breaking the silence. You turned toward him, unsure of what to say. How the hell did he know?! After a minute, you slowly nodded, confirming his suspicion. He let out a sigh, but for some reason seemed disappointed.
"Well, I see the way you look at him, (Y/n). All I wanted to say is ... shit, he better realize what's in front of him before someone else does." You smiled, looking down as you fiddled with your thumbs. Well, you already knew Bakugo wanted you, it was you that was delaying the process. When you're ready, you'll have to make the next move and tell him how you feel.

After a few days, you made your way back to Musutafu, preparing yourself for the punishment you knew was to come. Once arriving, you and Bakugo were quickly caught by Mr. Aizawa before you could sneak inside. To say he was pissed was an understatement.
"You're killing me, guys." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "We've already been through this once. I don't know what I'm going to do with you two. You're lucky someone's life was saved amidst all this." You looked down, biting your lip from nervousness. This was your second warning. You'd have to be a top-notch student until the end of the school year to get Aizawa to forget about this.
"You'll both be missing hero-training for a week. (L/n), I'd like to meet with you tomorrow morning, since you didn't understand my instructions the first time. We'll discuss further punishment that I think is appropriate." With that, Mr. Aizawa shooed the two of you back into the dormitory, where the rest of 1-A was waiting.
"Holy shit," Mina exclaimed, running to crush you in a hug. Following behind her included Uraraka and Hagakure. "We're so glad everyone's okay. You've been missing for days. Now—" She backed up, giving you a serious look.
"Did you guys get kicked out of UA?!"
"Of course not." Bakugo scoffed as walked past Kirishima, Denki, and Sero who ran up to hug him. They paused, exchanging awkward glances. "That'd be stupid. Who'd kick me out?! Now, leave me the hell alone, I'm going to sleep." With that, Bakugo turned the corner, making his way to his room.
"I made pastries to celebrate, if anyone is interested!" Sato, who stood in the kitchen, held up a tray of pastries that were steaming hot. "Welcome back, (L/n)!!" A few students who sat on the couch made their way to the kitchen. Mina, snapped to earn your attention, then placed both of her hands onto your shoulders.
"(L/n), it's been a shitstorm since you've left." She whispered, shaking her head in disapproval. Uraraka nodded, while Hagakure 'mhm'ed in agreement. "You won't believe what we've discovered over the past few days." Mina then leaned in toward your ear, her pink curls brushing against your face.
"Yaoyorozu confessed to Todoroki."
You let out a gasp, to which Mina quickly covered your mouth. She shushed you, then practically dragged you down the hallway and to her room, Uraraka and Hagakure following closely behind. Once you reached her room, she slammed the door shut, and the four of you made your way to her bed. Snatching one of the many pillows, Mina hugged it as she shoved Hagakure, urging her to begin the story.
"Basicallyyy," Hagakure began, "The day you left, I had to stay after class to finish an assignment. As everyone was leaving, I noticed Yaoyorozu shoving a folded-up paper into Todoroki's desk. Weird, right?!" Hagakure then snatched the pillow from Mina's grasp, hiding her invisible face. "I couldn't help myself, okay?! I had to know what was written. I'm not proud of it, but I snooped through his desk and read the paper. Turns out, it was a confession letter." The girls let out a series of gasps as if they haven't heard the story already. Hagakure then continued on.
"So, I said eff that assignment and followed Yaoyorozu. She made her way behind the school to meet up with Asui. They were talking about Todoroki, and apparently she's had a crush for a while now. I don't know, (L/n), but if my friend went for my ex I'd be pretty upset. I left the letter, though. I didn't want her to know I took it." You sat motionless, unsure of how to respond. Sure, you and Todoroki weren't a thing anymore, but Yaoyorozu was supposed to be your friend, and she's liked him for 'a while'?! You couldn't help but wonder how long she's liked him, and what she must've thought when you were dating Todoroki. But, if Todoroki happened to return the feelings, you didn't want him be held back by you. You've come to the realization that it wasn't Todoroki that you missed, it was the feeling of having a companion by your side— and it was Bakugo who filled that role perfectly. Todoroki deserves to be happy, too.
"I don't even know what to say." You threw your hands into the air, being completely honest. You've had a rough few days, and this wasn't something you were in the mood to deal with. "I don't know how to feel right now, but i'm moving on, okay?! Maybe I'll speak to them both, and end all ties to our past relationship." The girls, quite surprised by your maturity, nodded at your decision, offering a few encouraging words. Mina then coughed, earning everyone's attention.
"If you decide to settle it like Bakugo and Deku did, I won't have any objections."
