CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
❛ work studies pt 2 ❜

"WHAT THE HELL are they doing?!" You stood at the end of the street, watching as Bakugo and Todoroki engaged in a chaotic brawl. They were both visibly panting, and had fresh bruises littering their bodies. The surrounding buildings were covered in frost, while the ground was covered in splotches of fire. Luckily, the street appeared to be abandoned, not a civilian in sight. They didn't seem to notice you or Burnin'— they were much too occupied with beating one another into a pulp.

"What the fuck?! Are you guys crazy?! Stop!!" You ran toward the two boys alongside the pro-hero, attempting to break up their fight. Then, a powerful explosion blinded the two of you, the aftermath knocking you both off of your feet. You slid backward onto the concrete, wincing from the impact. This was bad— a physical fight was one thing, but a brawl involving two of 1-A strongest quirks was dangerous.

Todoroki connected an icy punch to Bakugo's gut, sending the blonde stumbling backward. He growled, blasting a large explosion toward Todoroki. The attack momentarily blinded him— long enough for Bakugo to land a heavy blow to his jaw. Todoroki fell back, but not before sending an icy trail of spikes toward the blonde. He just barely dodged the attack, wiping the blood that gushed from his lip. They were far too engulfed in their anger— and unbeknownst to you, their jealousy of one another.

Todoroki glared menacingly as his flame quirk engulfed the left side of his body. Katsuki smirked, flexing his fingers as smokes seeped from in-between them. You didn't waste a second as your dashed toward the two boys, not knowing what you could possibly do to de-escalate the situation. As they charged toward one another, you ran in-between, stretching your hand toward each of the boys. You shot powerful blasts of fire toward them, catching them off guard. They both flew back, crashing violently into the ground below.

Bakugo sat up from the ground, his eyebrows furrowing in anger. "What the fuck?! Why'd you do that, (Y/n)?!" Fresh scrapes littered his body from your attack, and you began to feel bad for your sudden outburst. Quickly, you shook your head. You shouldn't feel sorry— these two idiots should be the sorry ones! You turned toward the blonde, pointing an accusatory finger at him.

"Are you seriously mad at me?! What the fuck are the two of you doing!!" You twisted your neck to face Todoroki, who looked down in shame. He couldn't even meet your eyes. "Are you seriously fighting during work studies?! You know how badly this could affect your place at UA?! Are the two of you just plan fucking stupid?!" He didn't know how to respond— the entire situation had escalated farther than he'd expected. Bakugo instigated the fight, but he should've known better than to take it any further. Todoroki sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"That fucker deserved it." Bakugo spat, glaring daggers at the bi-colored male. "I'd kick his ass again if I had the chance. Fuckin' piece of shit." Clenching your fist, you began walking toward Bakugo, but was stopped by Burnin', who grasped onto your shoulder and pulled you back. The pro-hero stepped forward, standing in-between the two of you.

"Alright, that's enough. Jesus, what am I going to tell Endeavor..." She clicked her tongue, shaking her head in disappointment. "I can't believe the two of you— seriously. I don't even want to know who threw the first punch." Bakugo scoffed, looking away. Of course, it was him that turned the argument physical. It was a stupid mistake, but it sure did feel good to shut him up. You glared at the two boys, unaware of the tears that welled in your eyes. You were angry— you cared about each of them, but you couldn't understand why they'd do something so stupid. You turned away, crossing your arms in frustration. Just what were you going to do with the two of them.

It's been a week since returning from your work studies, and what a mess that was. Bakugo and Todoroki were taken back to UA after their unexpected brawl, dealing with the heavy consequences of their actions. You were left with Midoriya for the rest of your time away, and the two of you grew closer. You enjoyed Midoriya's company, and couldn't help but tease him about Uraraka. His flustered reaction told you alk you needed to know.

Currently, you were lying in Mina's room, skimming through your class notebooks with disinterest. Sighing, you rolled over, covering your face with your forearm. You were too distracted with Todoroki and Bakugo to think about schoolwork. You've been avoiding them, too angry at their actions to speak to them. They kept their distance as well. It was odd— you didn't understand what had them so angry with one another.

"I can't believe those two got in trouble." Mina began up, leaning into her vanity mirror as she applied her mascara. She knew exactly why they hated one another, but it wasn't exactly her place to tell you that. Bakugo would have to man up and tell you sooner or later. "Well, whatever. That's old news, who cares about them. Onto the more important stuff; are you coming to the party Kendo invited us to?!" Mina spun around in her rolling chair, staring you down intently. You peeked from under your forearm, your expression twisting into one of distaste.

"I'm not really—" Mina held up her hand, quickly silencing you. You puffed your cheeks out, knowing she wouldn't take no for an answer.

"You need a party, (L/n). Just come, it'll get your mind off of everything! Plussss, I won't be alone!" She spun back around, continuing to finish her makeup. You sighed, not looking forward to the party that was approaching soon.
