I sigh, practicing my powers as Buffy is off on patrol; ever since that kiss with Angel, it's like my brain knows I feel guilty, and my powers are reacting to it.
Putting the book Giles gave me down, I think about that kiss and the fact that instead of pushing him away, I kissed back. The fact that we went just a bit further than a kiss before I regained my senses and stopped.
As I think about Angel, I feel my body shift, and I know what is happening as I glow red, but instead of appearing in Angel's mansion, I stand next to my now prone body.
I frowned before hearing a noise at my window and turned to see Angel climbing through; he looked at my body and then at my see-through form in concern and surprise.
"Just ignore that..." I tell him as my astral form lights red, and I gasp, sitting up on the floor back in my body, "Ouch. Note to self... learn how to do that without breaking my body."
He quickly moves and helps me up from the ground. "Does that happen a lot?" He asks with those big, stoic puppy dog eyes he gets when he's concerned about me.
"Increasingly," I mutter dryly as I frown at him. "What are you doing here? Either you've got the wrong window, or you're here to talk... both are not good for me."
"I'm here to talk. To you..." He says, looking around my room. "I know that I upset you when we kissed. I just-... I don't like it when you're upset at me".
I blink at his awkward sentence as he lingers by my window, "I'm not upset at you, Angel. I'm guilty. I feel the guilt of being a bad sister. You're Buffy's"
Angel shakes his head, stepping closer. "We're on a break right now. Buffy and me, we're... on a break," he trails off upon seeing my expression.
"That doesn't make it better, Angel!" I say, bristling at his explanation that he thinks it's okay just because they're on a break. "I get it, okay, you've got this weird-..."
Before I can say anything, he's crossed the room and cupped my face, pressing his lips against mine. It wasn't like before, that first time. This kiss was deeper, more desperate, as if he needed it.
I felt it in the way his arms tightened around me, and his lips moved with a quiet urgency. My hands stayed frozen at my sides for a moment as though I couldn't allow myself to respond.
But then, just as quickly as it had begun, my mind fought against the flood of emotions crashing over me. I pulled away sharply, my chest heaving. "You can't do that," I say, the words coming out as a broken plea.
Angel lets me go reluctantly, his eyes dark with regret. "I'm sorry," he murmured. But I could see it in his eyes, the way he wasn't quite sorry enough to pull back completely.
"I do understand, Angel. Whatever part of him you still have inside you... it wants me. But you can't keep doing this; it's not fair to Buffy.. and it's not fair to me." I whisper as he touches his lips and walks back to the window.
