AMAYA

Amisha walked into the office exactly at nine. Not a minute late. Her heels clicked against the marble floor, each step carrying the confidence she had spent the entire morning forcing herself to wear. Her shoulders were straight, her expression composed, her face carefully blank.

It was an act. She had barely slept.

The last few days had been nothing but a constant battle between her heart and her pride. Every time she closed her eyes, she remembered him. His voice. His touch. The way he had looked at her like she was something precious.

And then she remembered the way he had walked away. Last night, she had finally admitted defeat and gone to Randeep Sir.

She had not cried. She had not made it dramatic. She had simply told him that working around Abhimanyu was affecting her. That she needed distance.

Randeep had listened quietly before assuring her he would handle it. Abhimanyu would be moved. She would not have to see him again.

For the first time in days, Amisha had breathed easily. That feeling lasted exactly until she reached her desk.

Because he was there. Sitting in the chair beside hers. Like he belonged there.

Abhimanyu Raizada leaned back comfortably, one hand resting over the armrest, the other holding a file he was not even reading. His expression was calm, almost careless.

But his eyes betrayed him. The moment he saw her, something flickered across his face.

Something softer. Something that disappeared so quickly she almost convinced herself she imagined it.

Then the familiar smirk returned. Her heart betrayed her before her anger could take over. Because even after everything, even after a whole month of trying to hate him, her body still recognized him before her mind did.
