Knock. Knock.
The sound yanked me out of my thoughts so abruptly that I flinched. Irritation flared instantly as I shoved the dish into the sink a little harder than necessary and rinsed my hands under the tap, muttering a string of curses under my breath for that chipmunk of mine and for the person who had the audacity to interrupt me right now.
Wait. Mine? I grimaced and shook my head at myself.
Whatever.
"Coming!" I called, drying my hands on the kitchen towel before pushing my hair back and forcing myself to look somewhat presentable.
"Yes?" I asked, opening the door with a polite smile. The delivery guy glanced down at the parcel in his hands before looking back at me.
"Delivery for... Doll?" he said, squinting at the bill as though he wasn't entirely convinced he'd read it correctly.
My brows furrowed as I accepted the parcel and checked it myself. There it was.
Doll. Right above my address and beneath it, a phone number I knew far too well.
Abhimanyu.
I rolled my eyes so hard it almost hurt. "Is the payment done?" I asked, already suspicious that he'd somehow found another way to annoy me.
"Yes, ma'am." I nodded, thanked him, and shut the door. The receipt slipped from the paper bag as I walked back toward the kitchen. I bent to pick it up, my eyes automatically scanning the order.
Shahi Paneer. One butter naan. One plate of kaju rice. Four kebabs.
I stared at the list for a long moment before snorting to myself. Does he seriously think I eat like him?
