He pulled his phone from his pocket, typed something, and turned the screen toward me.

IICYIFU.

I frowned.

For a second, the letters meant nothing. Then my brain caught up.

"W-What... WHAT?" A slow smile spread across his face. Not playful. Not teasing. The kind that made my stomach tighten.

"I know you're a bookworm, doll," he said, his voice quiet, almost conversational as he pulled back his phone, his gaze never left mine. "So... If I Catch You, I Fuck You."

My heart skipped a beat. Then it started pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears. Without realizing it, I took a step back.

Then another. He watched me the entire time. Running a hand through his damp hair, he brushed the strands away from his forehead, raindrops sliding lazily down his wrist. There wasn't a hint of urgency in him. Every movement was slow, deliberate, as though he already knew exactly how this was going to end.

"You thought that was funny?" he asked, his voice calm, too calm.

"Run, doll." I stared at him. He tilted his head ever so slightly. "Because," he said quietly, "I don't trust myself right now."

Something about the way he said it sent a shiver racing through me. I didn't wait to think. I turned and ran. Rainwater made the terrace slippery beneath my feet as I rushed across it, my heartbeat thundering inside my chest. My lungs burned, my breath coming in uneven bursts, but I refused to look back.

I didn't need to. I could hear him. His footsteps weren't hurried. They were measured and unhurried. As though he knew I wasn't getting very far.

I rounded the corner and stopped. Because my escape ended there, there was a wall in front of me and the door was behind him.

"Oh no..." I spun around, my chest rising and falling as I struggled to catch my breath.

Abhimanyu stood a few steps away, rain dripping from his hair onto the shoulders of his shirt. He looked almost relaxed, rolling one shoulder before slipping both hands into his pockets.

Like this was never a chase. Like he'd known exactly where I'd end up.

My pulse climbed even higher. He walked toward me without saying a word. Until there was nowhere left for me to go.

His hand closed gently but firmly around my wrist. With one smooth tug, he pulled me toward him.

My back collided with his solid chest. The impact stole the breath from my lungs. He leaned down just enough for his lips to hover beside my ear.
