Tortured Love

Chapter 7

I just stood there in shock. He really just kissed me?! Then goes back off to a bunch of teenagers that are trying to kill me. Great.

I push all the thoughts of Adam to the back of my mind when i suddenly realise, the whole of Panem just watched me kiss the enemy. Speaking of enemies, there's only 15 of us left in the games. Well i think, i'll know for sure tonight when Caesar Flickerman does the evening announcements!

I carry on walking back into the woods when i spot a rabbit hopping along the trail, i slowly raise my arm holding my knife and throw. I hit the rabbit cutting open it's neck causing it to die, proud of my shot i take a bow. Knowing this is being filmed i pick up my rabbit and carry it by the ears to a spot where it looks like someones already burnt a fire.

There's already sticks piled so there was no need to collect any, i rub two of the largest sticks together as they light. I cook my rabbit and eat half of it, saving the other half for later. The sun was high in the sky, so i presume it's around noon. I blow out my fire and carry on walking.

'Someone? Anyone? Are you there?' I hear a faint whisper.

'Who's there?!' I ask.

'Oh Lorena please help' They say, i turn around and see Hollie laying on the floor her limp body, blood oozing from her chest as she winces in pain.

'Hollie? What happened?!' I ask as i kneel beside her fragile figure.

''Your brother, Carter he stabbed me' She whispers, obviously talking is causing her pain. Then i notice the long knife stabbing into her body.

'Oh my god, Carter? Are you sure it was him?' I plead.

'I hate to say this but yes' She groans in pain. I can't process this and break down into tears.

'Lorena i-it really hurts to breath' She says slowly.

'Hollie! No Stay with me!' I shout. She can't leave me. She can't die, now i know how she feels watching friends die. Well i couldn't really call her a friend but she was nice to me.

'Run' Were her last words before i turned around to see a small, dark skinned girl. My first instincts were to run, i tried to run but i was paralyzed in shock. In my anger i pulled the knife out from Hollie's dead body and throw it at the girl and i hit her she fell to the floor. Also dead.

I don't know what came over me, i'm just so upset and angry. all i can do is sit and stare at the two dead bodies around me and cry. I try to mop up Hollies bloody wound hoping she'll come back. i didn't have a clue who the girl was and i feel so bad for taking a innocent girls life. I just lay on the floor and cry until i fall asleep..

I wake up to Caesar's voice booming over the arena, the dark skies start to get cloudy.

'Tributes,only 13 of you remain but only one can win' He yells. Well duhh that's the whole point.

'Tomorrow you will have to find the other tribute from your district and allie with them for 2 days, if you don't have a remaining tribute to pair with. The wolves with get you before you wake' He laughs.

'And one last thing before i announce the fallen tributes, if you haven't already you will be paid a visit by someone you trust' He continued 'And the fallen are: the girl and boy from District 3, the girl and boy from 5, the girl and boy from 7, the girl and boy from 8, the boy from 9 and finally the girl from 10'

Someone i trust? Who?

I wake up to the sun shining, i hear a shout come from behind me.

'Lorena?' I hear a boy whisper.

'C-carter?' I ask scared because of the whole Hollie incident.

'Lorena thank god i've found you' He sighs in relief. As he hugs me tight

'Looks like we're allies for two days' I say, trying not to bring up anything about Hollie.

He just nods as we walk off, i'm not even sure i can trust my own brother.
