3 years ago, choi beomgyu participated in a game called the squid games, where people in debt would compete in life-threatening games for 45.6 billion won. sure, the money has helped beomgyu in more ways than one. but he gave most of it to a lady he's really fucking close to and soobins brother. god, how he missed soobin.
soobin had also competed in the squid games 3 years ago—see the past tense? soobin died in those damned games, and they had made a promise to watch each other's siblings.
now look where that got them. beomgyu didn't deserve to win those games; jeongin killed himself to let him win—jeongin, his oldest friend. he missed him a lot too.
odi too. he played the marble game with soobin. those two were close—really close. he'd remember how soobin sobbed after that.
it hurts.
so why the fuck was beomgyu back again? he doesn't really know himself. he dyed his hair red and was initially going to head on a flight to see his baby brother, but he got a call. as soon as he turned around, he changed his mind.
"you're making a mistake."
which led beomgyu to look around crazily—like a madman.
"come out of hiding, you sneaky rat."
"why didn't you get on the plane?"
—-
beomgyu ended the call shortly after that and left the airport completely.
"i want you to put me back in the games," beomgyu said firmly while blindfolded in the limo.
the front man eyed him like he was stupid.
"are you planning on ruining my games, choi beomgyu?"
...
but now, here he was, back in the same eerie dormitory, wearing the same teal-green tracksuit, the same damn number.
456.
456.
456.
god, he can just remember soobin bleeding out before him, but then having to fight with jeongin—only for chris to sacrifice himself after beomgyu didn't want to fight.
beomgyu tried to warn people in the first game, but of course, nobody had listened—getting shot down, blood everywhere, which caused other people to panic and other people to fall.
he helped them form long lines—and there they survived.
the squid games had a voting thing after: press x to end the game—which was the rational choice. but all these people, blinded by money, chose o, which is to keep the games going, giving the players more money.
stupid.
beomgyu thought, they saw what happened during red light, green light—and still wanted to stay? like they had a chance?
but—oh.
he'd never have expected an old friend to be here, heeseung.
beomgyu and heeseung had bet on horse racing for years, and heeseung reason for being here? he lost his money when betting against other people.
okay! great, they had each other. teams are good, though—once and for all, he'll end the games.
beomgyu, while aimlessly walking, bumped into player 001.
"oh—sorry about that," the male said, while helping beomgyu to stand.
"say—you guys need another player?"
