~~ Part Ten
If we were in the normal world, my dad would've killed the guy who raped me, not Gabrielle. But this isn't the normal world and it is kind of sad to say that raping happened in the normal world too. "We will find them." Gabrielle says assuming I was thinking about that. "I know." We finally made it outside, killing a few guys here and there but it is all over now. We made it out. Instead of walking back the way we came from, we decide to head in the opposite direction, thinking that maybe that is where they headed. I am hoping it is.
Oh no. My hand goes over my mouth as we walk in to a group of walkers. Not just any walkers, they were the girls I helped get out. God dammit! If it's not people, it is them! Bloody walkers. I sigh before attacking them as they come to me. Every one that came, I checked to see if it was Scout, Kelli or Samantha but luckily none of them happened to be them. We managed to get them all but it still made my mind go crazy. What if they got away but were now dead? What if they left my little sister for the walkers? I squint my eyes shut to push out the thoughts but it was impossible. "Gabrielle, what is they are dead?" I ask. He grabs both my hands and stops me. "Skye, they are going to be alive, they are strong." He says. As much as I wanted to believe him, I couldn't. There is a huge chance that they aren't alive.
Gabrielle has an idea to go back into the forest. Knowing Samantha, she would've leaded them through there again. It is already really dark so it was hard to see where we were going. "Skye, is this Kelli's?" He asks before crouching down. I kneel down beside him to see he was looking at a teddy bear. My eyes water as I see blood on it. "Yes, it is." I answer. He stands me back up and we decide to walk faster. "That blood is fresh so it happened not long ago." He says. I nod before following him again. "Walkers!" He shouts. I look in his direction to see about a dozen of them. He pulls me down behind a bush as we watch them walk past. Phew, I thought. They didn't notice us. All of a sudden, a loud twig snapped from behind us as a walker grabs Gabrielle. "No!" I shout. I grab my katana before stabbing it through the head. It falls on top of him and I immediately push it off. "You okay?" I ask. "I'm fine." Though I believed him, I still looked over him to look for injuries. "Skye, get up, nice and slowly." He whispers. I do what he says and I realise him looking behind me. "Get ready to run." I look behind me quickly to see the group of walkers now following. Without another second wasted standing there, I run. There is no way we would be able to kill all of them. We run through the forest, pushing through branches and ignoring the spider webs that are going all over us. Spiders in this case do not worry me. BANG! I run into something. I pull up almost suddenly to pull my katana out, I go to raise it in the air to strike only to realise it was Samantha. "Oh my god, Samantha!" I exclaim. I drop my katana back in its holder before grabbing her. I pull her into a tight embrace and nearly end up in tears. "I thought you were dead." I say in her ear. She pulls away, tears in her eyes too. "I thought you were!" I stand up, pulling her up with me. "Where are Kelli and Scout?" Gabrielle asks interrupting our moment. Her face goes as white as a ghost. "Samantha." I say grabbing her arm. "Follow me." She says as she turns to walk. I side glance to Gabrielle who is already looking me. I grab is hand anxiously as we follow after Samantha. She leads us through for about fifteen minutes when we come to a stop. She moves to the side to reveal Scout on the floor with Kelli in her lap. "Kelli!" I cry. I race over to kneel beside her. She has blood all over her and Scout. "What happened to her?" Gabrielle asks kneeling next to me. "She was bit so we amputated her arm to prevent her from turning." Scout says. I grab Kelli and hold her in my arms. "She's still alive but we don't know if she has long to live." Samantha says. "How did you get it to stop bleeding?" I ask. "A lot of pressure and we put some alcohol on the wound before wrapping it." Scout answers. I stare at Kelli's clothes and then Scout's. It is a lot of blood. We hear movement from a few metres away and we knew we had to keep moving. "Here, I'll carry her." Gabrielle says. Sit helplessly as he lifts her off me and into his arms. I let her down. I should've just stayed with her. I am so sorry mum.
Probably going to be the most shortest chapter I've written but I just didn't know how to drag it out even more. -Jazmin
