Ever since we had uploaded our first vlog, we got great feedback. Bratayley fans everywhere were ecstatic when they heard the news. Of course, we got some negative feedback, but that was to be expected.
"Jack! We hit ten thousand subscribers!" I called out.
"That's great!" he yelled from the other room.
When I told Jack I was pregnant, he was ecstatic. He had always wanted a couple children. We had told Ethan he would have a new brother or sister, but he was too young to understand. We were planning on telling my family on Christmas day when we all got together at Annie's. Christmas was in just a few days, and we were taking a plane from Chicago to New York this afternoon.
I flipped on the camera. "Ethan's going on his first plane today... I hope he does well! I love to travel, so hopefully he will too!" I showed everyone our full suitcases and how Jack was loading the car. Then I flipped off the camera. No one knew I was pregnant except for Jack and I. We were planning on filming when we told the family, and get their reactions.
On the way to the airport, I sat wondering how the family would react to me having my own vlogging channel. They all knew about it, and had subscribed, but they had never been in a vlog. When we told our viewers that we would be seeing them for Christmas, they were very excited to see Caleb and Annie as adults.
That's when it hit me. We had been gone from YouTube for ten years. Yeah, we still posted on Instagram and Twitter, but it wasn't the same as posting videos of our lives everyday. It was like watching your favorite show every night, and then all of sudden it ended. All of our fans felt connected to us, like they were apart of our family every night, and then we shut them out for ten years.
Soon, we arrived at New York. Ethan did great - he slept for most of the plane ride. I texted Annie and let her know we arrived at the airport, but strangely she didn't respond. Whatever, she's probably driving and can't talk right now, I thought. When we got to the spot where she was going to pick us up, and she was ten minutes late, I started to get a bit worried. I called and texted her but she wasn't responding.
"She probably has her phone on silent, don't worry honey," Jack tried to reassure me.
"She's never late.." I nervously, quivered.
All of a sudden, I got a call from Hunter, Annie's husband. I picked up immediately.
"Hello? Hunter?"
"Hey, Hayley. I'm sorry this is such late notice, but Annie's in the hospital."
