Choosing One or the Other

(That same night at 1:15 a.m.) (Ashley could not sleep she was tossing an turning)

(Ashley rolled over to Charles and shook his arm slightly... He moaned and groaned but she knew he was awake)

Charles: *groans* What? 

 Ashley: Are you sure nothing happened?

Charles: It was nothing major.

Ashley: You're sure?

Charles: Their was nothing, I swear.

Ashley: I can't stomach it. The fact that my son did this to you. But at the same time why did you punch him?

Charles: Baby, I'm sorry I was out of line cause I hit him first. But trust me I didn't mean for the fight to go that far. Just lay down and go back to sleep. It will be fine.

( Ashley wakes up at 5:30 and is on her way downstairs for some coffee Stephen went into the hallway to use the bathroom but him and Ashley locked and they see each other in the hallway)

Ashley: Stephen, come downstairs.

Stephen: Yes ma'am.

(They walk downstairs)

Ashley: What do you want for breakfast?

Stephen: Whatever you cook.

Ashley: Stephen.... What happened last night?

Stephen: It's a man thing you wouldn't understand.

Ashley: When it comes down to my kids I know when something is wrong.

Stephen: Nothing is wrong you are making something its not mom.

(Stephen tried to walk away to get ready for school but Ashley goes an grabs his arm)

Ashley: Look you need to say what on your mind.

Stephen: Nothing is there...

Ashley: I will never understand you. I tried by you I have been there I know something is worng you cant keep nothing from me.

Stephen: Yeah right you never knew when..

Ashley: Knew what.?

Stephen: Nothing, forget it.

Ashley: No finish.

Charles: Good morning.

(Stephen sees Charles but doesn't say anything)

Charles: Stephen.

Charles: Satan.

Ashley: Morning (kiss).

(Stephen leaves the kitchen)

Charles: What's wrong with him?

Ashley: I'll never know, I'll just let him figure it out on his own.

(Stephen wakes up Sabrina)

Stephen: Brina wake up you have to catch the bus or I'll walk you to school?

Sabrina: Bus

Stephen: Ok. Look itś time for breakfeast.

(Sabrina lifts up an opens her arms wide) 

Sabrina: Carry me. 

(Stephen looked at her an laughed he carried her on his back back downstairs)

( Charles and Ashley are in their room  getting ready for work)

Charles: I'm late.

Ashley: Me too.

Charles: Why were you talking to Stephen again about this?

Ashley: I don't know I feel stupid about this. 

Charles: Then why do you keep putting yourself in the same situation in the first place?

Ashley: I feel like I've neglected them in more ways than one.

Charles: I don't know how to answer that.

Ashley: I can't get through to them I mean I've been married to you since Sabrina was 3.

Stephen: Mom, we're leaving for school!

Charles: I'm leaving honey, (kiss Ashley) love you see you tonight.

( Charles at work)

Tony: Married man, how is life?

Charles: Bad, my wife and kid's. More so the kid's.

Tony: For the kids all you have to do is give a direct approach.

Charles: What do you mean, when you say direct.

Tony: If they get out of hand put your foot down like a hands on  type of thing. Do you get what I mean?

Charles: Yes, I do hands on.

( At Sabrina school)

Rachael: Hey, Sabrina what did you do last night cause you didn't enter the chat?

Sabrina: I hated my life for hours basically.

Rachael: Why, what happen?  

Sabrina: Just Charles he's a creep, but then again I never did like him.

Rachael: Do we're always right about people and their characteristics.

Sabrina: But this dude I need him to go away.

( At Ashley's job)

Shelby: Ashley how has it been going miss. computer genius?

Ashley: Everything at work has been going great but almost everything at home is a mess.

Shelby: Girl, give me the goods.

Ashley: With the kids and they are really starting to get distant with me, I know I have been focused a lot on the fact that It's been almost 9 years and the kids seem disgusted when Charles name come up in a sentence. 

Shelby: They just might miss their real dad or they think Charles is taking you away from them. Either way it's one or the other.

Ashley: Maybe, but their dad really is that the best you could do maybe Stephen misses him but Sabrina she didn't even know him.

Shelby: Ok, if you say so Miss.Know-It-All.

Ashley: I feel like I have to choose between my kids and my marriage. And I shouldn't have to choose should I?

Shelby: You have to make your marriage right the again you have to raise two children that are not your husband's. So really I don't know what to tell you.

Ashley: I don't know how to make a come back from this.
