New Years Eve was fastly approaching. It had been only five months. Five months and in that span of time their lives had gone even further into ruin. They had almost been caught by the CBKD around twenty times already. Sammy had been on the run with either Ratchet and Wheeljack or Optimus and Megatron while that had happened. Of course who she was with always seemed to vary. If one duo felt like her safety was in danger or they were being tracked by the CBKD, then she would be shipped off to the other. Not that she minded. She understood their reasoning.

Besides, flying with Megatron was fun. She got to see the world from a different perspective. Riding along with Optimus was nice also. The interior of his alt was cozy. If you had asked her how many times she had fallen asleep in there, she just couldn't have counted it even if she had tried. Whenever she looked back on her time with Optimus and Megatron, a soft smile blessed her features. The type of smile that warmed the sparks of those closest to her.

At this moment, she was currently camped out in a warehouse somewhere in Maine of all places with Ratchet and Wheeljack. Optimus and Megatron were nowhere to be found. She had her guesses but she wasn't going to say anything until it could be proven correct.

Sammy rubbed her hands together, holding them close to the fire. It was strange.... the way fire worked. It needed few things to survive. Wood was the main thing. It amazed her.

Her peaceful thoughts were shattered when a particularly strong gust of wind blew through a crack in the wall, hitting her head on. She felt her teeth begin to chatter and her body shake. Gazing down at the pit of embers, her mood tanked. There went her way of gaining warmth.

She turned to the two vehicles parked in the corner of the warehouse. They were so close it seemed as though they were one being. She didn't want to interrupt them but she was freezing. And she didn't feel like she had the energy to start another fire. "Just greeeat." she thought to herself angrily. Sammy got up on shaky legs and waddled over to the two silent mechs.

"R-Rat-ch-chet? Y-You A-Awa-ake?" She asked. Even through her multiple layers of long sleeves and sweatshirts, the wind still got to her. Leaving her feeling cold like a popsicle. A quiet grunt followed by the sound of a door opening and closing met her ears. When she looked up she saw Ratchet shuffling towards her with a fluffy blanket wrapped tightly around his holoforms body and a pair of fluffy sandals.

"What's wrong? This better be important. I was cuddling with Wheeljack." He grumbled. He sniffled, pulling the blanket tighter around himself as he observed Sammy.

"I-I u-uhm-m, f-fi-ire went o-out-t. I'm c-col-ld." She stuttered, wrapping her arms tighter around herself. Ratchet huffed, rolling his eyes.

"You could've gone into Wheeljack's alt if your 'fire' had failed you, Samantha." Ratchet sighed. "There's a reason our alts are so close together. Both so we can cuddle and stay warm, but also so we'd be close by if you wanted to stay in either of our alts."

Her gaze lowered to the ground.

"Sorry Ratchet. I uhm... I didn't know." Sammy murmured. Ratchet sighed, going over to Sammy and wrapping some of the blanket around her.

"You're fine. Now come on, let's go warm up." He led her over to his alt, opening the door and lifting her in. Not a word was spoken the entire time.

Ratchet sighed, crawling into the back of Wheeljack's alt. He flopped down onto the pile of blankets and pillows Wheeljack was currently laying on and released yet another sigh. It was comfy, he'd give it that.

"She's asleep. I'm hoping she's comfortable enough to stay asleep so I can finally get my cuddles." He grunted, getting comfortable in his place besides Wheeljack.
