Authors note - okay so if you have read the book then you will know this scene basically I have taken Stephanie's original chapter where it describes Mels memory of the first time she met Jared and converted it into Jared POV. The rest will be from my imagination so don't worry there is a point of reading my story!
The base lone for this chapter and all characters belong to Stephanie Meyer, I am just simply using them. Okay so on with the story! enjoy!!!
Jared's POV
A I sit on the chair next to the sofa where a sleeping Melanie lays I can't help but think back to the first time I laid eyes on her...
FLASHBACK
I pull my jeep far enough away from the house that I won't be noticed by any body thief and I make sure that the coast is clear, staying in my car for a good five minutes. Only when I see the house owners leave the house and drive off in their car am I sure that I am safe. I grab my food bag and sling it over my shoulder, opening the door and climbing out, and although there wasn't another house in miles, or anyone, I silently closed the door.
I make my way over as quiet as possible around the back being careful not to make too much noise on the cobbles. I only have to stand on them once before I am on the patio. Except as I am very close to the door a figure appears behind the door about to open it. Only when it looks up to see me does it turn in an attempt to flea. I fling the door open and before it can even get two steps I grab it by it's shoulders and hold the knife to its throat.
"One sound and you die," I threaten gruffly pressing the blade slightly harder against the parasites neck. I can tell by the long strands of hair that flow over my arms that it was a girl, now just a body. My suspicions are confirmed as it spoke.
"Do it," It spits through their teeth. "Just do it. I don't want to be a filthy parasite!"
"Clever," I mutter to myself "Must be a Seeker. And that means a trap. How did they know?" I quickly and carefully remove the knife from her-its neck and replace it with a hand, nearly suffocating it.
"Where are the rest of them?" I demand, squeezing harder.
"It's just me!" It rasps.
Suddenly it throws an elbow into my guts. But I think it hurt her more then it hurt me, as I don't even suck in a breath. If it thinks it can get away this easily then it can think again. I am not prepaid though when it jabs me in my instep, catching me off guard. I wobble. It wretches away but I am quick and I grab onto its bag, yanking her-it back into my body. My hands clamp down onto its throat again.
"Feisty for a peace-loving body snatcher, aren't you?"
It twists and claws, trying to break my hold. Her nails catch my arm, but this just makes me tighten my hold on its throat.
"I will kill you, you worthless body thief. I'm not bluffing." I threaten.
"Do it, then!" She says, although her voice hard as nails. She is not bluffing. She really does want me to do it.
I gasp. It can't be.No. No seeker would go to such extremes as to ask for a death wish just to catch one human. The last human. At least I thought I was.
I grab its hair and feel the back of its neck, fumbling around trying to find something. But I come up empty handed.
"Impossible" I breath not fully believing what I think I my have just discovered.
I drop my knife to the floor and loosen my hand on her neck ever so slightly. I spin her ( I think) around and grab the small torch that I keep in my pocket and turn it in, shining it bright in her left eye. They are not the shiny blue like I originally thought they would be. Instead they are a hazel. I haven't been able to get a good look at her as it was dark before, but even with the small amount of light her beauty shines through. I nearly forget what I am meant to be doing at the sight of her. She gasps at the sudden brightness in her eye and tries to squirm her way out. I just tighten my grip around her hair. I flick the light to the right eye. The same colour hazel eyes as the left. My heart rate speeds up at the thought of not being the last human on earth.
