Chapter 6

Coz I know some dont read the A/N at the bottom I thought Id put the more important one at the top,

I would like 5 votes and 5 comments for me to update the next chapter. I don't think it is that much to ask for and it will show if you guys really want me to carry on wrting this book :)

Melanie's POV

I can't help but worry about Jared and how he is doing. It has only been five hours and although it may sound a while, I know it's not as I remembering him saying he was going to go further out, for safety reasons .I was beginning regretting agreeing to it. I didn't realise how much I would miss him until he was gone.

As always there is crap all on TV so I am left to just sit around. Jamie was so tired as he hadn't got much sleep for a couple days so as soon as he climbed into bed he was gone. I lay down on the sofa, my eyes suddenly becoming weak as they draw together and I fall into a peaceful slumber.

I am awoke by the calling of my name.

"Mel? Melanie?" I shoot up as I instantly recognise the source of the voice.

"JARED!" I shout scurrying to the door to meet him. I don't have to go all the way though as he meets me half way, catching me as I jump into his arms, smashing our lips together. I kiss him like it is the last we will ever share, and he doesn't hesitate to kiss me back. I pull back, my breath heavy.

"I missed you so much." I murmur as he places a soft kiss onto my lips.

"I missed you more." He smiled against my lips.

I hear a awkward cough behind us that is way to feminine to belong to Jamie. I instantly fly out of Jared's arms and in front of him protectively.

I couldn't fully see her, just a feminine figure,but that's better than not being able to see her.

I whipped out my pocket knife, my heart racing at a hundred miles an hour. How stupid could Jared of been, he was followed!

"Mel, calm down, this is Tammy. She is human ." Jared's calm voice explained as he stepped around me and carefully lowered my outstretched hand that contained the knife.

"How do you know?" I questioned.

"I've seen her eyes."

"But I thought that we were the only humans left. " I was still unsure but still, I trusted Jared with my life.

"So did I babe, so did I " He chuckled.

After that we had all sat down, me and Jared in the sofa and Tammy on the chair.

She had explained how her and her mom had initially escaped and were staying in a run down shack somewhere but one day when she went out to get food for them her mom never came back. Since then she has travelled alone. Until she met us, of course. All the way through she kept on looking longingly through her eye lashes at Jared. She even put on the water works at one point, Jesus talk about the sympathy vote.

At first I was hesitant at talking to her, I mean there are things called contact lenses. It didn't help the way she kept on staring at Jared like he was a piece of meat and every time he said something the slightest bit funny she would laugh, smiling the model smile that I have always wanted, flicking her long blond hair back behind her shoulder.

"Oh Jared you are funny!" She would exclaimed.

Does she have to make her flirting so obvious? As soon as I saw her (properly, once the light had been switched on) I knew she was the popular mean girl that ruled the high school going after any hot guy that walked past. And of course that hot guy was Jared. I mean its not like I could deny it, he was hot!

I shifted in my seat closer to Jared snuggling in to his side, wrapping my left arm around is torso. Jared moved so that we were closer as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders, playing with loose strands of my hair.

Tammy was currently telling us something about how she had the worst first kiss. I wasn't sure, I couldn't care less to be honest. I know that I had only just met her, but she had that vibe. The one that stuck a DANGER sign on top of her head.

Once she had sobered up from laughing at her own story she let out a big sigh, "But anyway where can I sleep? Is there a bedroom?"

I heard Jared take in a breath as if he was going to answer her but I got there first.

"Well my little brother Jamie, he stays in the bedroom, and since he usually takes up all the room me and Jared normally stay on the sofa. So I guess that leaves the chair. It's comfy Jared used to stay on it, before."

The look she gave me gave me a clear indication as to what as to what she thought to my proposition. Jared seemed to see it too as he quickly spat out after me,

"Although, I don't think that Mel would mind getting in bed with Jamie. Would you babe?" I mumbled a no as he paused waiting for my reaction, " Then you could stay of the sofa and me on the chair." He suggested.

Gosh, sometimes this boy was too kind for his own good.

Tammy's face instantly lit up like a child's on Christmas day.

"That sounds great! I mean as long as you are happy with it Mel."

She paused for half a mili second not even giving me chance to reply.

"Great!" She squealed.

oh. My.Gosh. Could she get any more annoying?!

"oh I'm parched, you don't happen to have a drink, Jared?" she interrupted.

Yup, I guess she could.
