This Is Me

Chapter 9

I walk into school only to be immediately bombarded by every guy congratulating me and every girl smiling, waving, and/or winking at me. I was only gone for two days, what the hell happened? The bell rings knocking me out of my thoughts. Looks like I'll have to figure this out later and quickly make my way to first period. Before I know it the bell rings signaling that first period is over and second period will be starting shortly. I mentally prepare myself for the next several classes I have since Liam and his friends share them with me, luckily they don't bother me too much in fourth and fifth for some reason but hey, I ain't gonna complain.

To my complete surprise, Liam and friends don't bother me at all. This confuses me, maybe it has something to do with why every guy is congratulating me and every girl is flirting with me, which I still need to get to the bottom of why that's happening. The bell rings and I gather my things as I begin to make my way to third period when I am grabbed by the back of the shirt and dragged into a secluded corner that's used for studying. "You sit" says the voice of Liam that I will never forget and get thrown down on the bench, "You three move." Looks like I spoke too soon.

The three guys sitting there just look at us in confusion. "What don't you nerds understand" Liam says snapping his fingers, motioning for them to leave, "Get." They quickly grab their things and scurry away as Tucker and Rodrigo sit on either side of me and Liam, Zaydon, and Geoff sit across from me. "My man, how are you" Liam says. "Um..." I say confused as to what is happening and going on looking between the five of them, "Trying to figure out exactly what is going on." "I need you to get Yelena to go out with me" Liam says. "You can't be serious" I say looking around at all of them and seeing their serious facial expressions, "Oh you are being serious."

"It completely baffles me how you do it but you apparently know what you're doing" Liam says, "And you're already friends with her, it's perfect." "Gee thanks" I say sarcastically still having no idea what the hell he is talking about. "Liam" Zaydon whispers, "I would refrain from insulting him." "It's the least you can do for stealing his captain title" Rodrigo says. "I earned that title fair and square, he needs to get off his high horse" I say, "And why the hell would I help you? You've made my life a living hell." "We can make it worse than it already is" Tucker threatens.

"Easy Tuck" Liam says, "Just one date, that's it." "And why don't you just ask her out like a normal person" I ask. "He already did" Geoff says, "She rejected him." "She's clearly not interested then" I say, "Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get to class." I begin to stand up when Tucker and Rodrigo grab my shoulders and pull me back down. "Or not" I say. "Dude, just help him" Rodrigo says. "Like hell I will" I say, "He's treated me like shit since day one." "Well start over, clean slate" Liam says, "A real chance." "What" I ask. "We didn't get off on the right foot" Liam says, "It will be like day one round two."

I know I should say no after everything they've done but it's been quite lonely. The only person I've befriended and feel comfortable around is Yelena and by extension Piper cuz that's her best friend. It would be nice to have a group of friends again, especially guys. And I know that what Liam wants me to do is wrong, but after the whole Lea incident...I just can't go down that road again, no matter how beautiful and attractive Yelena is. I just can't go through another heartbreak.

"A fresh start with everyone" I ask. "Yes" Liam says. I glance at each of them and they all nod their heads, some more willing than others. "And one date" I say clarifying the terms so that way he doesn't try anything sneaky and I have witnesses. "One date" Liam says. "Ok" I say, "You've got yourself a deal." "You're the man" Liam says standing up and high fiving me, "That's what I'm talking about." "Let's get to class" Geoff says, "Don't need to be any later than we already are." Liam throws his arm over my shoulder as we walk to class, "I can already tell this is gonna be the start of a beautiful friendship."
