TWENTY-FIVE
Veilstorm Estate, Northern Territory
After leaving Euphoria (2 days after Vaughn's trail)...
As soon as Vaughn steps over the threshold to the Veilstorm Manor, he finds himself cornered by two of Rhonda's devoted maids from the housekeeping staff. The sudden violation of space causes him to drop Rhonda's suitcases so that he could scramble away from them, forcing Rhonda to swiftly catch them all with telekinesis before hitting the floor.
"Easy! Those are priceless, as well as the contents within them." Rhonda lectures.
"My bad!" Vaughn mutters, shooing the maids away. "They're trying to take my things and I don't want 'em to."
"Welcome back, Madam Rhonda...and Master Vaughn." Lisa greets Rhonda with a slight bow, then turns her loathing gaze upon Vaughn who is still trying to avoid Miranda.
"Humph! Unkempt as ever. You're far too mature for this type of behavior, Master Vaughn." Lisa says to him.
"I just wanted to take my own things! Is that too much to ask?" Vaughn gripes as he weaves between her and Rhonda. "Why are yuh still following me?"
"I just want to do my job, sir!" Miranda mumbles quietly.
Lisa Corrin is a Corgi-Poodle faunian who has been with the Safeguard family for over twenty-five years. She helped to raise both of Jennifur's children and eventually Vaughn after he was brought from the orphanage. However, once he arrived, Rhonda took it upon herself to be his caretaker, watching over her dearest cousin as if she was his self-proclaimed mother. Lisa can often come off as strict and overbearing at times, but she is very passionate when it comes to her job. The time she spent watching them grow from childhood was a treasure to her that she would never trade for the world, but she will never admit it to them openly.
The other is a much younger deer faunian named Miranda Golden. Both her and Vaughn spent just a few years together before he left to attend a Chapel of Study. She used to be shy and timid around the manor, afraid to enter any of the rooms or speak when she was alone.
This newfound enthusiasm for her career catches Vaughn off guard. Beforehand, she would not come near him, now she is relentlessly chasing him around for no apparent reason.
"Excuse me, Master Vaughn. If you keep trying to avoid me, then how will I take your coat?" she asked him sincerely.
"Come now, you must refrain from making everyone's jobs difficult." Rhonda sighs, dropping the bags gently onto the floor one at a time.
"I'll say..." Lisa rolls her eyes in agreement, picking on one of them. Lisa then snaps her fingers and two male attendants enter the foyer to assist her with Rhonda's suitcases and her coat. Meanwhile, Vaughn still avoids letting Miranda take his jacket and Lisa grows annoyed.
"Oh, you don't have to trouble yourself." Vaughn says stubbornly. "It's just a jacket..." he waves her away.
"For Saint Harmon's sake! What are you hiding? You have something in there you don't want us to find inside?" Lisa scowls at him, unable to tolerate his antics any further. Rhonda merely shakes her head and decides to take her leave.
"I'm going to leave you all to it..." Rhonda announces before heading for the room beyond the staircase. "I will see you all this evening during the gathering. Please make sure to dress accordingly, Vaughn." She says, sounding a bit lethargic.
"But why, I thought it was just a dinner party?" Vaughn gawks at her with shock. "I hate getting all dolled up just to eat..."
As he complains about the attire for the event this evening, Lisa locks her keen eyes on Vaughn's coat and swiftly takes hold of it.
