I awoke again. I didn't remember when or how I fell asleep. I was alone. I wondered if Last night was a dream. Then I moved my arm. The teeth were back in, and I fell to the ground gasping. I was well awake after that. Immediately, Love came over and made sure I was well. As soon as he saw that I was, he went back to the other dogs. They were all sitting by the chest.
" Food", I realized, "they want food." These were just like regular dogs. Unfortunatly, food was something I was short on, even for myself. I was just about to tell them that I did not have any, nor did I know if I was going to have any, when Wisdom went over towards the locked door. The Armory door.
If there was going to be an emergency, this was it. I was hungry, and I had 5 hungry mouths to feed. I took the key in my hand. This was it. I took the key towards the door. I inserted the key into the rough metal lock and turned. The resulting sound made me jump. I guess I was expecting blinking lights and an alarm, but none of these things happened. Instead multiple clicking noises went off simultaniously.
I pulled at the rugged oaken door. It didn't budge. I tried again, but it moved so very little. I took my hands off of it and looked down at Wisdom. She looked back up at me, then scratched at the door. I decided that I would try one last time. Spirit came over towards me. Then the rest of the dogs followed. Most of them had their heads cocked, like I was holding a giant bone. I took one look at them. Their many different colored eyes made contact with mine. Strength seemed to flow through me. I grasped the handle. My arm screamed, but I ignored it. I then put all my weight into it. I though of how I really needed what was inside there. And the door opened just as easily, if not more easily than regular doors. I stepped inside.
First looks were decieving. There was no real amount of anything in there. I saw a candle or two, and went to go grab a stick and light it from the stove. As I returned with the light, I happened to look up. I almost dropped the lighting stick. I could see a glint of something. Hope started going nuts. The giant dog was doing laps. As i lit one candle it became a little clearer. Then I lit the other and It was fully revealed. There was a beautiful bow there. It looked like it was made of yew. BBut next to that was what had caught my eye. A round circular sheild, and a gladius, or short sword, in a scabbard. They were all beautifully crafted. They bore no jewels or precious metals. But they did have functionality, which is a beauty in and of itself.I reached for the bow.
As I picked up the bow, I felt it. It seemed to radiate power. The smoothe wood of the bow felt like music you can feel, color I could touch. It was as smooth as silk, but as strong as iron. I almost dared not take it off it's rack. It seemed like it should stay there and never be used. But the yip from Wisdom brought me back to the world. It was a beautifully crafted bow, but I needed it. I needed to eat, as did they.
I grabbed a quiver full of arrows. I had remembered that I was the best shot around in my first revelation. These arrows were wonderfully made as well. I took one out. It was made of iron wood, a wood that was painstaking and hard to use and craft. The heads were curved and sharp. I knew that they would go wherever I needed them to. The tips of the arrows were curved like half leaf, half blade of grass. They were thin, yet potent. They had a small barb at the very end of base of the head. With these things, i felt like I could take on the rest of the world. No wolf could be spared with these weapons at my disposal. The fire of hope had made a home in my heart. The sword could wait. I went outside and shut the door to the armory. It clicked shut behind me.
