"So, I heard Damien joined you and the others for the tea party," Abigail said, her eyes twinkling, "And that he didn't leave at the same time as everybody else."
Rhionna shrugged, "He helped me clean up and we talked. Nothing else."
"Come on Rhionna. You have to start dating again," urged Abigail.
"I will. When I am ready." Rhionna stated as she filled pots with water and turned them on.
Abigail rolled her eyes and made a raspberry sound. Rhionna just shook her head.
"It's been years Rionna, and honestly you are just being stubborn at this point," she said, "I think Damien likes you. Why don't you give him a try?"
"Give me a break Abby. I just learned that the man I loved died and you are asking me to date someone." Rhionna said, "I need to process."
"Rhionna, you and Tommy were broken up," Abigail argued.
"That didn't mean I didn't love him. I had hoped when he returned to the island we would talk and get back together." explained Rhionna, "Now, I will never see him again. We'll never get the chance to say sorry to each other. I need time to come to terms with that."
Abigail gave a frustrated groan. Then got up to greet the first customer of the day.
Rhionna was glad for the reprieve and started setting out the cups to start pouring the first days cups of tea.
By afternoon she was sitting at a table while Abigail took the orders and made the tea and Ashley, a young woman they had hired for the summer, waited on the tables.
She looked up when a cup of tea was set beside her and saw Damien standing there.
"Abigail told me to bring this to you," he said, "I was wondering if you wanted to go to the mainland with me to look at some furniture for the house. I could use a second opinion."
"That sounds like fun. When are you going?"
Rhionna said.
"Tomorrow, the first ferry out." He said.
"I'll see you then. We are closed tomorrow." She replied.
"Great," Damien said, "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
He left and Rhionna took a moment to watch Damien as he left. She felt a small thrill at the thought of spending more time with Damien. Despite what she had told Abigail she felt an attraction to him.
Right now, she was just exploring the feelings she was having and didn't want to make them known.
