A lightening storm threatens to wake the whole village. Not many people have been scared of the lightening, especially not 12 year old girls. Elizabeth has just turned 12 in fact. Her family provided her with such happiness that she almost forgot about the fact rain was tipping down on their roof, thunder was grumbling from miles away and lightening was striking in it's anger. It was only when she woke up in the middle of the night that she became scared. She was terrified of lightening. She would see the light get in through the thin curtain, she would see her own shadow on the wall in front of her eyes and constantly think that Victor succeeded. Yes. She knew. Elizabeth was adopted for the soul purpose of being Victor's wife one day. Just no one knew. To save Victor from the darkness he was stepping into after Caroline died, Elizabeth was adopted ten years ago, a mere toddler really. It had been four years since Caroline died of consumption and since Victor was locked away from the world. He hid. He learnt and never wanted anyone to be there. He was only just living. So Alphonse decided, for the benefit of his boys, to take in a toddler of two years old, a girl who would help around the house and save Victor from himself. Elizabeth Lavenza.

"Victor," she walks into his room, swiftly wishing she could see where the bed was. She's done this many times before. "Victor please," sweetly the girl says. Victor had actually been sitting on the chair by the window, watching the lightening curse the tree outside. The next strike causes Elizabeth to jump back in sheer terror. "VICTOR!" She almost shouts. He turns his head eventually to see the horrified expression on his 'cousins' face. "God damn you! I thought you might have been, the creation." Elizabeth trails off. Victor sits silently, contemplating how he should react. In the end, the wood chair underneath him lets off a creak when the 22 year old steps down to hug the girl.

"I would never let my creations get in the way of your safety and happiness my dear cousin Lily," Tomorrow the young scientist leaves for London. He has found work and is more determined than ever to create his monster. But for now, the lightning fades as the pair fall asleep in one another's arms, dreaming of the possibilities of what could come of defying death.
