Diana's P.O.V.
I really wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into, but I knew that this was what I wanted. My body was tingling with excitement and my brown eyes were lined with eyeliner and my lashes were curled and dark. I swiped on some silvery eye shadow and added one last coat of coral gloss to my plump lips and was ready to go.
Behind me, Rachel was finishing the last few curls to my hair. The loose ringlets cascaded down my shoulders and framed my face. I smiled at the reflection. Tonight was going to be a good night. I was excited to see Noah again. I always wanted to be near him and when I wasn’t I was thinking of him and missing him.
My phone vibrated. I pulled it out of my back pocket. Noah texted me. He asked if we needed a ride to the party. I responded saying that we would meet him at the party and sent the message before bringing my attention back to Rachel who was debating on what to wear. I went to my suitcase and pulled out a white sequined tank top that would look perfect against her tan skin. “Here,” I said holding it out to her. Rachel held up the top. “I have a pair of shorts that will go perfect with it!” She ran over to her suitcase and pulled out the pair of shorts. She shimmied out of her clothes and switched into the clothes for the party. “Now I’m ready to leave.”
When we arrived at the party people were all over the place. Outside some jocks were tossing a football around. You could hear the bass from the music outside so it only made me wonder how loud it was inside. There weren’t any neighbors next door so cops wouldn’t be an issue. Surrounding the back of the house was all woods. The sun was long gone by now and the moon was hiding behind the clouds. The night had a slight cool breeze that came by every once and the while. Rachel led the way and opened up the door.
It seemed like people were acting more like animals than people. Jocks were tossing more footballs around and in another room it sounded like something shattered on the floor. I followed the girls through the foyer and we eventually found where the source of the music was. The latest Usher anthem was splaying and bodies were grinding to the beat of the music with red cups filled with liquor. Claire and Rachel immediately went to the dance floor and I began my search to find Noah. I pushed past people and walked around the house and couldn’t find him on the first floor. I reached the stairs and stepped over someone who was passed out on one of the steps. Doors were shut upstairs and I wasn’t opening them. I really didn’t want to see people doing it and I was certain that I wouldn’t find Noah there.
I made my way downstairs and found myself in the kitchen looking for something to drink. Since I couldn’t find Noah I assumed he wasn’t here yet. Parties usually did start late and maybe he thought this one was no different. I sent him a quick text before grabbing a beer and making my way to the dance floor. Rachel was dancing with a guy and Claire looked lonely. I handed her my beer which I hadn’t sipped yet. She smiled at me and took it from my hand. We started dancing and it was nice to feel free and loose. Eventually I wanted something to drink so I had to go back to the kitchen.
Reaching for a beer another hand reached for it at the same time that I did.
“Sorry, you can take it,” I said looking up to a pair of gray eyes. His dark brown hair was tousled and had streaks of a copper tone to it when the kitchen lighting hit it just right.
He smiled at me and his eyes crinkled slightly. “No, a pretty girl like you deserves it.” He held it out for me to take it and I did. “Thanks.”
I started to walk away when a masculine hand gripped my elbow. “Wait.”
I turned around and he smiled again. “I don’t know anyone here. Can I hang out with you?”
