CHAPTER THREE
Diana’s P.O.V
Bright orange flames danced as more wood was thrown into the fire. I was soaking up the warmth from it. It felt so serene here. The stars glimmered in the sky as the moon was full and bright. Surprisingly we were close to the city but it felt like we were a million miles away from one. The crackle of the fire and soft murmur of voices was the only thing I could hear.
More people gathered around the fire starting conversations with us. They really wanted to make us feel welcome, especially me for some odd reason. Maybe they knew that I was starting to like Noah already. Or maybe they just know that I’m sort of socially awkward around new people. Either way, I was feeling more comfortable to speak up around everyone.
Rachel and Claire were disappointed at first when there were no single boys around the fire. They were happier when more guys showed up who appeared to be single. Rachel was batting her thick eyelashes while Claire smiled the entire night. At one point Claire and this one guy whose name was Peter took off to have some alone time.
Peter saw her at one point in the hotel. Apparently he used to live in Florida when he was younger. He moved back a few weeks ago. She met him in the hotel in the lobby. Logan said that he doesn’t hang out with them anymore. A shiver ran up my spine at the fierceness in Logan’s tone. It was like he hated Peter.
Rachel wiggled her eyebrow at me and I couldn’t help to smirk back at her. Noah gave me a weird expression and I couldn’t help but to blush.
“Is there something that I’m not getting?” he asked.
I nodded. “Claire typically isn’t the type to run off with guys. She’s more conservative when it comes to boys.” I looked over to Rachel. “Now Rachel on the other hand…” I began.
“Hey!” Rachel scolded.
Logan, who was sitting next to her, flashed a seductive smile at her. “Well hello there,” he said in a dark yet mysterious tone. Abby’s eyes narrowed at Logan. “Behave,” she growled.
“I was kidding Rachel,” Logan said. “I hope I didn’t offend you in any way.”
She shook her head. “No, you didn’t. And I know that Diana was onlyjoking.”
I nodded feeling the tension in the air become more frigid when a group of people walked by everyone. They were glaring at us, their eyes glancing to the boys. One of them who were giving off the bad boy vibe to be especially took note of my presence. His nodded on my direction and I shivered. I didn’t know who he was or his friends and I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I didn’t want to. Beside me, Noah’s muscled tensed and his hands were clenched together. His body began to tremble and I swore I heard him growl. Logan gave him a dry smile. “Calm down man, it’s alright.”
Deep down something was wrong with Noah and I felt the need to help him, but I wasn’t sure how. I rested my hand on his, letting my fingers trace his. A spark of electricity rushed through my body. It was a pleasing feeling that sent my stomach swirling with mixed emotions.
“Do you want to take a walk with me?”
He smiled as his body relaxed. “Yeah, I’d love too.”
We both got up at the same time. We walked down to where I met Noah and sat down on the sand which was cool. I laid back and rested my head in the sand.
“Tell me about yourself Diana. I want to get to know you.”
“Well what do you want to know about me?”
