Chapter 12
Diana’s P.O.V
Josh came down the stairs and he wasn’t in a pleasant mood. My jaw slightly dropped when I recognized him as one of the guys who was hitting on me at the beach. I thought he could have been Noah’s cousin or brother. Looks like he’s his younger brother. This night sure was going to be interesting.
Noah's mom had him introduce himself to me. His attitude suggested that he didn't want to be here. I was going to pretend that he wasn't hitting on me the other day. "Nice to meet you Josh."
"Yeah, same to you."
Noah's mom smiled. "Well looks like all the introductions have been said except for me. Diana, I'm Melinda."
"It's nice to meet you Melinda. And it looks like you're quite the cook."
She shook her head dismissively. "It's nothing really. I actually like to cook."
Ian wrapped his arms around her petite waist and planted a kiss on her rosy cheek. "That was one of the many reasons why I married her," he chuckled.
She rolled her eyes. "Yes, you and your bottomless pit of a stomach sure kept me busy over the years. Now speaking of food we better eat before everything gets cold."
The six of us all sat down at the table. Noah's parents were on the end of the table while his siblings were on one side and Noah and I were on the other. Beth sat directly across from me and kept smiling at me. She seemed like she was always happy. The fact that she was happy just made me feel happier. I don't quite know why that is, but I could definitely tell that she was nice and that we could get along very easily. The food looked so delicious that my stomach growled from just eyeing the food. Once all six of us had our plates filled with food we all started eating with small conversations going on at the same time.
"So Diana," Ian began, "I heard that your down here for the summer?"
"Yeah, my friends Claire and Rachel are down here too. We all decided to go on vacation before we all head off to college for the fall."
"What do you plan on going to college for?"
I had thought about that for what seemed like months now and to be honest I still didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. It almost felt like college wasn't meant for me. But getting an education is important so I tried to force myself to forget that feeling I had and apply to colleges.
"I'm not exactly sure to be honest. I'm thinking doing something with becoming a teacher or something with kids. I like working with children. They always are you happy and just make you smile."
“It sounds like you know what you want to do.” Ian noted.
“Well I’m glad one of us thinks so.”
From the corner of my eye it looked like Noah was glaring at Josh and I wondered why. Was it because Josh and his friends hit on me the other day? Sure, I was pissed off at the time but I’m completely over it. It’s in the past and there’s no point it letting it bother me anyone.
Melinda was an incredible cook. Every bite of food was mouthwatering and I devoured everything that was on my plate. I think that I was going to have to ask her for one of the recipe’s or perhaps more than one. It was all so good that I had scooped up more food and helped myself to a second helping.
“Do you like the food?” Melinda asked.
Immediately my face heated up as I bashfully nodded. “Yeah, this is by far the best home-cooked meal I’ve ever had. Do you think maybe I could have a recipe or two?”
