Lesson number 2: Make sure you're being yourself.
After the exhausting dance rehearsal on Tuesday, Kiera and I decided to go shopping. Shopping has always been on my list of "favorite things to do when bored and tired". Therefore when Kiera requested it I couldn't say no.
First of all we decided to try on some shoes. Kiera and I are not huge fans of spending money, we just like to try things on. So we went into a store and tried on almost everything we saw. Seriously though, almost everything. At some point everyone in there including the customers stared at us. And that made us leave and find some place to eat something.
We were very hungry, so I guess we ate in a weird way because everyone again stared at us. What is wrong with those people? At least we weren't pretending to eat, we were actually paying for them, so it was our greatest right to eat.
I was all about eating when Kiera said:
"Oh, here he comes?"
"Who?" I asked. I wasn't really expecting her to talk and I also had food in my mouth so it probably sounded like "hoe". She hesitated talking for a second, but she the smiled and said:
"Colin."
"Oh." I said and turned around to look at him. He was coming toward us with a girl by his side. What? I heard he just moved into town. Has he found a girlfriend already?
"Hi Violet. It's very nice to see you here." he said with a smile on his face. Then continued:
"You too, of course Kiera."
Kiera and I both only smiled. Then Kiera asked:
"So, who's our new friend?"
"Oh this is Stacy, she's my.."
"Girlfriend." the girl finished for him. Colin turned to her face and looked at her in a very surprised way. Then the girl, Stacy, leaned into his ear and whispered something. Colin didn't look very happy when he heard the thing she said, but didn't say anything. What were they even planning? I know because they had their planning faces on. I wouldn't be able to describe it, but trust me they looked like they were planning something. I looked at them suspiciously when the girl smiled at me. All of a sudden Kiera said:
"Violet I have to go. My mom's waiting for me at home and she doesn't know that I'm here. I don't want her to get angry."
"But we didn't even buy anything yet. We only looked for shoes!" I said. I certainly didn't want her to go because I didn't want to go home.
"I know. But we weren't gonna buy anything anyway." she said and smiled.
"Fine." I said pretending to be angry.
"I'll make it up to you, don't worry." she said. Then she grabbed her bag, kissed me on my cheeks and went to the exit.
I looked at the girl and said:
"It was nice meeting you. But I gotta go too." Then I turned to Colin." See you at school?"
"Actually, um, .." he turned to Stacy them turned back to me "I was thinking maybe we can hang out together. Stacy was gonna go home anyway."
The girl didn't look angry at all. Instead she simply said:
"Yeah." and smiled.
Normally I would say no, but that day I really wanted to do some shopping and also I thought that it would be good to hang out with the new guy. As I said the three idiots Rebecca, Abby, and Julie liked him, so the closer I am to him the better.
After waiting for a few second I saw Colin raising his eyebrows and waitin for an answer, so I said:
"Yeah, sure, why not?" and laughed awkwardly. Colin and Stacy smiled and Stacy kissed Colin on his cheek then went away leaving us alone. I was thinking to myself " What is wrong with that girl? Why did she leave us alone. I mean I would never do that. After all that hot guy right there is my boyfriend, not hers." I realized that my own voice sounded so weird in my head and listened to Colin who said:
"So now that you're not hungry anymore, where do you wanna go?"
"Oh Colin can you do me a favor?" I asked.
"Sure anything." he said without hesitating. Oh, he's so sweet.
"I am planning a surprise birthday party for Kiera. Her birthday is on Saturday. Actually I was going to tell her today and it wasn't going to be a surprise because I really needed to do some shopping and I only have today. So yeah I was planning on telling her and I figured we could have done the shopping together, but now that she's gone..."
"You want me to join you with the shopping." he finished my sentence.
"Exactly, could you do that for me?" I asked hoping that it's not too boring for him.
I was really going to plan a huge party for Kiera. I have never done anything like that before, so I was really excited and wanted to do a good job.
"Of course. I would love to." he said. A huge smile appeared on my face. I almost hugged him, but thank God I didn't. That would be embarrassing.

When we were finally done with shopping, we found a cafe and decided to drink something cold because the wheather was really hot and we were so tired. Colin went for some iced coffee and I chose to go with flavored water. It looked great in the pictures. Colin said breaking the silence:
"I guess that's going to be a fabulous party. I am looking forward to seeing it."
I laughed and said:
"I hope so. This is my first time doing something like that and I want it to be amazing."
He reached for my hand and said:
"Don't worry. It will be amazing."
I smiled nervously and looked down to our hands. He realized and immediately let go of my hand.
I took a sip from my water and raised my head to see ... Austin, my ex-boyfriend Austin. Wow, he looked very attractive as usual. Like any girl who sees him would look at him one more time. With his meticulously made brown hair and amazing blue eyes, he looked like a god. I shook my head and thought " You were in love with that boy and he broke your heart. That is bad Violet, very bad. Don't ever think of anything good about him. He's a bad guy." I educated myself like a dog. I kept reminding myself that he's bad for me while he got closer and closer to our table.
"Oh wow. Long time no see Violet. I can see you've changed."
I looked at him suspiciously. That didn't sound like him at all. Then he continued, answering my thoughts:
"That's what they always say in the movies. It's not quite right for us, though. It's only been a month and I can see that you haven't changed at all."
He looked down at me with the underestimating look on his face. I opened my mouth to answer, but Colin was faster than me:
"Who are you, buddy?"
Austin looked at Colin and said:
"It doesn't matter, buddy. Just look after her."
And just like that he was gone.
