"I just don't get it Joshua. Your parents have told me you were such a good kid in middle school. It's really disappointing to see what a delinquent you've become, I bet that's hard on your family too. You're only a sophomore, there's time for you to turn around."

What a surprise. Here I was yet again, after school one on one detention with Miss. Fields, the school principal. She really loved scolding me like this. I wanted to tell her that these 'serious talks' had absolutely no affect on me at all. I reach my hand up into my red hair, twisting my fingers in it and restraining an eye roll.

After she gets nothing but a shrug from me, she sighs, scrawling down a signature on my favorite, a red detention slip. I always got a red or blue one. Red meant week detention, blue meant a month. I've only gotten blue twice.

"I bet you thought you'd get away with this one, huh." She said, raising an eyebrow and sliding the slip towards me from across the desk. "I expect you to spend at least two of these days cleaning off that spray paint. I don't wanna see a single speck." She says, her voice becoming harsher. All I do is sigh deeply and nod.

It's silent for a while before Miss. Fields speaks again, her tone lighter and friendlier now.

"Josh, you know what disappoints me the most about you? Okay listen, I get delinquents like you in here almost every day. It's nothing new, they're all the same. But you, Josh there's something different about you and you know what that is?"

She stops, like she expects me to answer. I shrug again. "What is it?" I say half heartedly.

"It's that I know that you're destined for better things. Deep down, I know there's a kind heart in you somewhere. You really can be a sweet kid Josh. The other day I saw you helping a freshman pick up his things off the floor. You're not a nasty punk like the rest of the kids I get in my office. I just wish you'd realize that."

'I only help one freshman' I think.
'The only one who gets to see my soft side'

     'Tyler.'

I had started talking to Tyler this summer, when he moved into the house across from mine. My parents, being the type that force any possible kind of social interaction on their children, had me ringing his doorbell as soon as they were settled in.

"Hi, you're Josh..right? The kid across from me?" I remember him saying in that small, light voice of his. His pastel purple hoodie and grey skinny jeans labeled him as one of those pastel-y prep boys. His irises were a melted chocolate color, and a mess of soft brown hair was on his head.

Our weekly visits soon turned into daily ones, and that's when I'll admit I began to develop a crush on him. It was one of the last weekends of summer, our first sleepover at his house, when I told him.

"So you like... like like me?" I remember him asking in a timid voice. I nodded, swallowing hard.

I wasn't sure of what he'd do next.

He scooted himself closer to me, looking me in the eyes with his gorgeous chocolate bar eyes.

Then..

He leaned over and kissed me.

"Me too." He whispered against my lips.

Our relationship got harder to maintain as school started, as I couldn't really be seen with a person like him being the person I am.

Sometimes we met after school to kiss and talk to each other in the janitors locker, but we could never stay for long. Once I was caught talking to him in the cafeteria by my one friend Mitch. That's when I started acting up again, to prove that I was still tough delinquent Josh.

And that's how I ended up here today, with several past detentions.

Somedays I just wanna ditch my bad boy image and kiss him in the middle of the hall.

But then again, I like how our love is secret. It's concealed. Locked up with the key thrown away.

No one would ever expect sophomore bad boy Josh Dun to be dating the school's quietest, most innocent freshman, Tyler Joseph, and I loved that.

Ew that was so bad sorry omg. I just liked this idea and I'm trying to quickly get this oneshot book up to pace w/ my Phan one.
