{3rd person pov}
→ when socially impaired junior Tyler is dragged to a college frat party by his brother, could a simple game of spin the bottle take more than the bottle for a spin?
< this is so LONG lmao sorry.. I got into it >
.: Oneshot 3 :.
Even Tyler had surprised himself by going to this party. His extremely more social brother had dragged him out to this college sorority gathering, and it didn't even take 10 minutes for the buzz of blaring music and murmured, drunken conversations everywhere to let a headache sink into Tyler's brain.
He didn't even know who's house this was, but his brother insisted that the owner was okay with this happening.
He was sitting at the kitchen counter, talking about music with his brother's tolerable friend James and drinking a Coke when suddenly his brother came bursting through the door with a megaphone, shouting obnoxiously in everyone's face, "MEET IN THE LOUNGE! SPIN THE BOTTLE! MEET IN THE LOUNGE! SPIN THE BOTTLE!" And then proceeded to move onto the guest room, spreading the news.
"Come on man, spin the bottle? What is this, 1995? I knew they'd wanna play those dumb ass games, wanna ditch Ty? We can get smoothies or something, I'll drive you home." Said James, getting up from his kitchen stool and looking at Tyler expectedly.
"Nah, I think I'm gonna stay. Thanks though." Tyler said sheepishly, and even through all the noise, he heard James audibly groan and watched him exit the room.
'Great. Now I have no one to talk to.' Tyler thought as he awkwardly shimmied through the crowd and into the lounge. A massive circle had started to collect in the center of the carpeted floor, so massive in fact that some people weren't even able to find a spot and were spectating on the couches. He managed to get a spot, not paying attention to who he sat next to.
Looking to his left, Tyler shyly smiled at the heavily tattooed girl with short blue hair and a septum piercing next to him, and she smiled back invitingly, dropping her intimidation level by hundreds of points.
Feeling significantly more comfortable in his surroundings now, he looked to his right, at the boy next to him.
Tyler swore upon his heart dropping out of his chest at that very moment.
The first thing that caught his attention was the mess of cotton candy pink hair on his head. It resembled the texture of cotton candy as well, light and fluffy, and he immediately longed to tangle his fingers in it. He looked at Tyler with a kind, harmless look in his chocolate brown eyes, and smiled at him shyly. Tyler began to smile back, but looked down, running a hand through his hair. He then began to speak, and his voice was so smooth and warm almost like velvet.
"Something about you tells me that you're not in college yet." He said, and Tyler began to blush, and slightly nodded, looking back up at him.
"Don't worry, I'm just a freshman here anyways," he continued. "I don't mean that badly. You just have sort of an innocent look to you. It's.. kinda cute."
Tyler swore his heart stopped beating just then. He suddenly forgot how to use words in a sentence, and just looked down, guessing he probably looked like a full on tomato.
"My name is Josh by the way. Yours?" He spoke again. A slight tinge of crimson lingered on the top of his cheeks, probably due to the realization that he had just hit on Tyler after less than 5 minutes of knowing each other.
"Tyler. Hi Josh, nice to meet you." He answered, his voice light and timid. He just smiled, with his teeth this time, and looked down, nodding slightly in acknowledgement.
It was right when Tyler was about to speak up again, when the game started. An empty liter bottle of Pepsi was placed on its side in the center of the massive circle, and his brother took the first spin, big surprise. It landed on his ex girlfriend, a girl named Kelsi, and whoops and hollers filled the room as they mockingly crawled towards each other, followed by a longer than needed, drunken make out session, gaining a look of slight disapproval from his brother's current girlfriend.
The game soon became dragged on and dull, some people were even shifting the bottle after it stopped so that it landed on two girls because apparently this party still thought it was cool to fetish lesbians.
Tyler was about to get up and leave, like a few others had already done, but it was just then when he felt it was mandatory for him to stay.
The bottle had just started it's spin around the circle of eager drunk college kids for yet another time, but this time,
It landed on Josh.
Looking across from the circle, where the other end pointed, sat a girl with a round face and bleach blonde hair. Tyler silently admitted that she was pretty cute. Her puffy, almost pout-like lips parted to reveal a toothy smile as she met eyes with Josh, and Tyler watched as his cheeks grew red, a smile taking over his face as his eyes crinkled at the ends. In no more than a matter of seconds, they had met in the center of the circle, and Josh's hands tangled themselves in her hair as their lips fit together in a seemingly perfect fashion. There were no hoots or whistles this time, but rather complete silence, as the two practically began to swallow each other's faces. The silence confused Tyler, but he was too unreasonably overwhelmed by raging jealousy to focus on that.
'Was this his girlfriend? Why did Josh look so happy? He literally HIT ON ME. He can't be completely straight.'
Thoughts like these consumed Tyler's mind as he looked down at the floor, away from the kiss to distract himself from getting madder.
The two finally pulled away, and the game continued on as the two awkwardly crawled back to their places, a smile still plastered across Josh's face.
Tyler felt so weak and stupid for being jealous, but he was. He was mad at Josh, the beautiful boy he had met 10 minutes ago. He finally decided to ditch the game, and locked himself in the downstairs bathroom.
"Don't cry. Don't. Cry." He whispered to himself over and over, staring at himself in the mirror. Giving up, he slid down against the wall, breaking into a silent sob. He was never going to find a boy who loved him back, and he decided he should just give up. He was too tired to open the door when he heard his brother knocking for him, and he heard his footsteps get quieter, and he figured he'd gone home.
How responsible.
Tyler didn't realize it then, but he ended up falling asleep on the tile floor of the stranger's bathroom, dry tears on his cheeks.

Early the next morning, he woke up in a panic, for a moment forgetting where he was.
After actually waking up, Tyler noticed a green post-it note on the sink, with a half paragraph scrawled on it.
Dear cute and shy non-college boy ,
Hi. Remember that big scary college dude you talked to last night? This is him. And this is my dad's house, so it was kind of alarming to walk down in the middle of the night for a bathroom break and find a boy passed out on your bathroom floor. Please don't think I'm creepy, but I noticed that you left after I kissed that girl during spin the bottle. Just to clarify, that was my ex girlfriend. And as you could probably tell, yeah, I still do have feelings for her. But you. I want you to know that as I violently sucked on her face, I had you in the back of my mind. I like you. So if you like me back, here's my number. We should do something sometime :) - Josh.
Tyler felt himself go red in the cheeks. He read the letter over 5 times before shoving the note into his jeans pocket, and eagerly ran home, ready to start talking to Josh.
