Y/N sat on the edge of the couch, admiring her freshly done nails. The nail tech had really outdone herself this time—soft pastel shades adorned with tiny, intricate designs on each nail. The highlight? Her ring finger had a small, delicate "S" etched into it—a sweet nod to her boyfriend, Seth. She couldn't wait for him to notice.

Seth, however, was currently in the kitchen, singing under his breath as he prepped dinner. His slightly off-key rendition of some 80s rock ballad made her smile; it was one of the many quirks she adored about him.

"What're you making in there, Gordon Ramsay?" she teased, raising her voice so he could hear her.

"A little Rollins special!" he called back, his voice full of pride. "Don't ask me what's in it yet—I'm freestyling tonight!"

She chuckled, shaking her head. Seth's cooking could be hit or miss, but the effort he put into making her happy always melted her heart. She decided to let him focus, but every so often, she'd glance at her nails and wonder how long it would take him to notice.

She rested her chin on her hand, tapping her nails lightly on the coffee table, hoping he'd hear the faint sound. Nothing. She even reached over and fiddled with the lamp switch a few times, her nails catching the light. Still nothing.

By the time Seth finally appeared with two plates of food, it was nearing 8 PM. He had a proud grin on his face, balancing the plates like a waiter. "Dinner is served, my lady," he said with a dramatic bow, setting the food down in front of her.

"Thanks, Chef Rollins," she teased, taking her plate and examining the meal. It actually looked pretty good—a mix of pasta and vegetables with just the right amount of sauce.

As they ate, they fell into their usual easy conversation. Seth told her stories about his day at the gym and some ridiculous joke sami zany had made, while Y/N filled him in on her plans for the weekend. All the while, she kept hoping he'd finally notice her nails. But as always, Seth was adorably oblivious.

It wasn't until they finished eating and were cleaning up in the kitchen that it finally happened. Y/N handed him her plate, and his eyes drifted to her hand.

"Wait a second," he said, grabbing her wrist gently. "What's this?"

She tried to act casual, even as her heart fluttered. "What's what?"

"These!" Seth exclaimed, holding her hand up and turning it this way and that. His grin widened as he inspected her nails closely. "Babe, did you get your nails done?"

"Obviously," she replied with a laugh. "I've been waiting for you to notice."

"These are amazing!" He marveled at the intricate designs, his thumb brushing over her nails as he turned her hand toward the light. "Look at this—are those flowers? And sparkles? Damn, this is fancy. Wait..." He squinted at her ring finger. "Is that an 'S'? For me?"

She smirked, finally letting herself smile. "Maybe."

Seth grinned so wide it looked like his face might split in half. "You got my initial on your nails? That's next-level cute, babe. I don't even know what to say."

"You don't have to say anything," she teased. "Just try noticing sooner next time."

He laughed, pulling her closer by the hand. "I'll work on that. But seriously, these are awesome. You didn't have to go all out just to hold my hand and look this good doing it."

"Well, I didn't do it just for you," she said with a playful shrug, though her blush gave her away.

"Sure you didn't," he teased, leaning down to kiss her hand. "Now I feel like I gotta step up my game. Maybe I should get a manicure too. Match your nails or somethin'."

"Please, I'd pay to see you in a salon chair," she said, laughing at the image.

"Don't tempt me," he replied with a wink. "But for now, I'm just gonna hold these perfect little hands of yours."

True to his word, he led her back to the couch and sat beside her, their hands still intertwined. He admired her nails like they were a museum exhibit, pointing out details she hadn't even mentioned.

After a while, Seth leaned back with a sigh, still holding her hand. "Hey, babe?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you think—" He hesitated, grinning sheepishly. "Do you think you could scratch my back? Like, just a little? I feel like those nails would feel amazing."

Y/N burst out laughing. "You're unbelievable, Rollins."

"What?" he said, his grin widening. "I'm just saying—it's a waste not to put these works of art to good use!"

Shaking her head, she leaned forward and started lightly scratching his back, her nails grazing his skin. Seth let out an exaggerated sigh of relief. "Ohhh yeah, that's the good stuff. I knew these nails were magic."

"Magic, huh?"

"Absolutely," he said, his voice muffled as he slouched forward to give her better access. "You could probably start a business with this. 'Back Scratches by Y/N.'"

"You're ridiculous," she said, laughing as she continued.

"Ridiculously in love with you," he shot back, twisting to look at her with a cheeky grin.

Y/N shook her head, smiling. "You're lucky you're cute, Rollins."

"I'm lucky in a lot of ways," he said softly, grabbing her hand again and brushing his lips over her knuckles. "And you're the biggest reason why."

With her heart full and her cheeks flushed, Y/N couldn't argue with that.
