The Amane and the Hyakuya had history that only people outside the walls didn't know. A history that was almost implausible, anyone would think it was fabricated. Thing is, it wasn't.

A long, long time ago, the Amane had been under their enemy's roof. They weren't one of the families serving under the Hyakuya, they were mere guinea pigs. They were experimented on for decades on and on and on. It was never successful and there was never a day two or more didn't die. Their bodies deteriorated as time went by, their will to live slowly dissipated---none of them could not take the harsh entity forced inside them, none of them could survive the brutal torture everyone went through.

But there were five promising children. They were monitored by the higher levels of the hierarchy of scientists. In their growth, they gained intellect, intellect that surpassed the others. This impressed the people in lab coats, so they carried on further. What they didn't know was coming, hit them on their faces hard. Nobody expected that these once annoying kids would be the brilliant teenagers they were now. All their lives they have been planning for a way out, an escape plan that required everyone's participation, it was bound to be a huge success and it meant their families' freedom.

Unfortunately, it failed.

The plan was for the four to distract the person handling them in their personal facility, while the other one snuck out and turned off the security switches, cameras, and other security measures. Succeeding in the operation, they silently killed their handler, twisting his head. Sneaking out of their own place was easy, their other blood relatives' location? Not so much. They had to go through lots of men and machinery. Luckily, they were quick-witted. But as everything went according to plan, that was the time the nightmare started. They figured it wouldn't go so well, obviously suspicious from the beginning---they underestimated the scientists too much. As the doors finally opened and captives ran trying to break out, gunshots were heard clearly and loudly. The incessant earsplitting noises filled the air, along with the chorus of screams of agony. Only the special five made it out the walls by sheer luck, ending with a large lump of guilt and regret on their shoulders knowing that their escape reuslted in each and everyone's sacrfice. One of them, got shot around his stomach. As he bled to death, he told them off, 'Don't ever let this happen again. We are free now. When the right time has come, we shall put an end to their cruelty.'

The two girls and two boys grew older, never forgetting their miserable younger years nor the promise of a new dawn for their family. Soon, they became couples and bore a boy and a girl who later became their predecessors. They were educated of the dark times and were warned of the dangers. Decades later, Yuichirou was born from the children of those who were left of the great five.

They named him Yuichirou. He looked so angelic, so cute, pure, and innocent. They treasured him very much, loving him to the maximum, and cared for him, never getting tired. Yuichirou was growing up fast though and they were growing older as well---they wanted to see him grow and did not want even one single scratch or wrongdoing in his upbringing. Scared of losing their son, they were strict on him. Afraid of repeating what happened to their parents, affected their personalities greatly. Yuichirou didn't know the reason behind their behaviour towards him, he wouldn't understand for he was still just a child. Their only wish was for their son to grow up normally, to be away from harm.

......But things just don't go the way we always want them to...

"Mom? Dad?" The little boy's voice echoed in the empty halls. It was dark in the night, he had just gotten back home from a stroll with Mika, and was starving. He expected lights to be switched on at the kitchen, but there were none. It was silent. Too silent. "Mama...Papa...." He called out again, now getting pale. His parents or the workers would appear before him instantly whenever he'd call but no one came.

Tap, tap, tap. He stepped further in and screamed.

The horrified expression on his face was indescribable. Beneath him were his parents' dead bodies, covered in messy splatters and puddles of blood. Were what his eyes showed him true? Was it?

Without thinking, his instincts led him outside his house. He glanced at the garden, more bodies dressed in red fluid were lit upon by the moon. Another howl. Yuichirou hurried to wherever his feet would take him---to the front gates with the locks battered by what seemed not to be human.

What's happening? What were those just now?

"MIKAAA!!!" He cried out, running frantically as tears and snot went down his face. He shouted his friend's name again, almost not understandable as he still cried.

"Yuu-chan?!" Mika replies as soon as he could, nearly a yell. It was a good thing he always waited for the black-haired kid to reach his room before he'd go back to his home. "What hap---?!" Before he could finish his sentence, Yuu had hugged him, burying his sobbing face deep in the crook of the blonde's neck. Mikaela didn't know the situation, basing his guess on Yuichirou bawling, he decided to stay quiet for a while before he'd ask worry-filled questions.

It took exactly 27 minutes before the Amane kid completely stopped slurring words and finally said something clear although just a mumble, "My parents...were killed...I have no family anymore...I have no place to call home anymore..."

Mikaela was petrified. He didn't know what kind of expression to wear. He didn't know what to say. He just stood there, staring at the green eyes that were full of sadness. It was like just a second ago we were having the time of our lives. Why is it that now, Yuichirou's life was heading into a mess? He's just a child. Still so fragile. And with me, who felt like the most useless person in the world on that day. Mikaela hugged him, caressing his hair at the back in a gentle way. Seeing his best friend be in pain sparked something in him, brewing what would be the best for them...and what could also bring the worst... Things were going to change. I won't let Yuu-chan get hurt. Ever. "Yuu-chan. Why don't you live with me?"
