[Prison Common Area]
Nate quickly grabbed the newspaper from the table, his fingers turning the pages with urgency. His eyes scanned the headlines, but his mind was focused elsewhere.
"Sophie," he said, his voice steady but sharp, "I need you to help guide me through it."
Sophie's calm voice crackled through the comms. "We're on the count, Nate. When they call 'Lockdown,' every door in the prison seals tight."
[Prison Infirmary]
Billy was fumbling with his shirt, when the sound of heavy boots echoed in the hall, and the door to the infirmary swung open. Three guards stepped inside, one of them gripping a knife with a menacing glint in his eyes.
Eliot took a step forward. "Hey. How you doing?"
Before the guards could react, Eliot moved like lightning, closing the distance in an instant. He threw a punch that sent one guard stumbling back, then grabbed a baton from the floor, blocking an incoming strike from another. The sound of metal on metal rang through the room as he deflected, using the baton to knock the second guard down in one swift motion.
"Look at me. Look at me," Eliot said coldly, his eyes focused as he spun to face the third guard. With a quick strike, he hit him on the side of the head, sending the man crumpling to the ground.
As Eliot stood over the fallen guards, the door creaked open. Nate entered, his gaze inquisitive as he surveyed the scene.
"A little sloppy," Nate commented dryly.
Eliot smirked, pulling off a pair of new glasses and inspecting them. "New glasses," he said.
Billy stammered as he stood up. "Hey, I—I'm an accountant, okay?"
Nate grabbed Billy by the arm and yanked him toward the door, his voice urgent. "Come on, come on. Go, go, go!"
The sound of static crackled through the air as Bellows' voice bellowed over the radio, just as the sirens began to wail in the distance.
"Lockdown. Call lockdown!"
The sound of metal sliding against metal echoed down the hall as the doors began to close, locking in place with a chilling finality.
The cold voice of the computer system filled the air, cold and unrelenting. "Lockdown. Lockdown in 5..."
Nate and Billy burst from a doorway, their footsteps pounding against the floor as they sprinted down the hallway. Their breaths came quick, every second counting.
"4..."
Billy's eyes darted ahead, his panic rising. "We're not gonna make it."
"3..."
The computer continued, its robotic tone counting down.
"2... 1."
Billy reached the door, his hand outstretched as the metal slab began to close with a sharp hiss. He glanced back, eyes wide with fear, but Nate was right behind him, moving at a steady pace.
"Lockdown."
Billy's heart raced as he slammed his palm against the door, but it was too late. The heavy barrier began to slide shut.
Nate didn't miss a beat. He reached the door, effortlessly pushing it open with his shoulder. He stepped inside, his hand pulling out a neatly folded piece of paper from the door's bolt. He held it up, "Newspaper folded eight times can support a ton of weight," Nate said, his voice steady and sure.
