My stomach was turning. I could feel my heart beating in my chest so hard that it was as if it was trying to escape. I could hear cheering outside of the tent. Draco was out there... He would see me make a fool out of myself...
No I don't care... I don't care what he thinks of me...
Before I could create an argument in my head, Harry came over and sat next to me on the surprising comfortable couch.
"How do you feel?"
"Me? Awful... You?"
"Nervous..."
'I'm not gonna make it... I'm gonna get hurt.' I thought. I mean I had no real skills. I was gonna die out there
"Do you know how you're going to defeat your dragon?" He asked.
"No... Im gonna have to wing it..."
Before he could reply, Hermione peeked inside the tent. "Pssst! Harry, Elizabeth?"
"Hermione?" I asked in surprise.
"How are you feeling? OK?"
We didn't answer. "The key is to concentrate. After that you just have to..."
"Battle a dragon." Harry sighed
Hermione entered the tent and hugged us hard. A bright camera flashed, as Rita Skeeter, the journalist that pissed me off the day before, approached
"Young love! Ohh how.. stirring." She then saw that I was in the hug too.
"Oh please tell me she wasn't in the photo!" She looked at the camera and saw that I was too in the photo.
"Oh what a disappointment you are!" She whispered to me.
The Victor guy noticed her and said, "You have no business here. This tent is for champions and friends."
"Wait one second," she said to him then turned to us. "Could I take one more picture? This time without Elizabeth."
God I hated this woman. "Get out!" I yelled. "Fine... Your loss."
Shortly after the journalist bitch left, Dumbledore came in. "Good day champions. Gather round please." We did as told. "Now you've waited, you've wondered and at last the moment has arrived. The moment only five of you can fully appreciate."
Only then did Dumbledore notice that Hermione was there. "What are you doing here Miss Granger?"
"Oh um.. Sorry I'll just go."
"Barty. The bag."
"Champions, in a circle around me. Miss Delacour over here, Mr Krum, and Potter... Riddle over here. Right. Miss Delacour, if you will..."
Barty held up a small brown bag to Fleur, and she took out a little green dragon.
"The welsh green. Mr Krum..."
Viktor took a scary looking red one. "The chinese fireball. Oooooh."
Cedric picked one. "The swedish short-snout."
He held the bag in front of me and I shakily pulled out a dragon. It was black with a tan tummy and felt ridged in my hand.
"Ah the Norwegian Ridgeback. Which leaves..."
Harry started to whisper, "The horn--", but I elbowed him to shut him up.
"What's that boy?"
"Nothing." I answered for him.
Harry put his hand in the bag and pulled out the dragon.
"The hungarian horntail. These represent very real dragons, each of which has been given a golden egg to protect. Your objective is simple, collect the egg. This you must do, for each egg contains a clue without which you cannot hope to proceed to the next task. Any questions?
No one dared to open their mouth and instead just looked at the dragons.
"Very well. Good luck champions. Mr Diggory the sound of the cannon..."
The cannon fired immediately and I watched Cedric leave.
Everyone went... Everyone except Harry and I. I was next. Not too long after Viktor went out. An announcement said, "Two of our champions have now faced their dragons and so both of them will proceed to the next task. And now our third contestant."
I hesitantly exited the tent, entering the arena. My dragon is roaring and trying to escape it's chains. It hasn't noticed me yet. I hide behind the rocks around me, slowly making my way to the egg. I cut my hand on one of the rocks and sit behind it, trying to cover my cut with the bandana I had brought.
When I peeked around to check on the egg, the dragon wasn't there. I looked around and saw that the dragon was right next to me.
I ran to the egg as fast as my legs would take me, but the dragon swatted me away with its tail. I hit on of the rocks, arm in front. The impact had dislocated my left arm. I shakily stood up, feeling the burden of breathing. I closed my eyes and tried to focus. When I opened my eyes again... I saw Raziel!
"Raz?"
"The dragon! The dragon is Norbert!"
"What?" I asked.
"Hagrid's egg! Norbert or Norberta... Something like that."
"Raz.. How are you here?"
"That doesn't matter! Just .. Try reasoning with her!"
"It's a dragon!! How can I reason with it?"
I blinked and Raz was gone, instead there was an incoming dragon tail. I was hit right into the stone behind me.
Following Raziel's orders, I casted a transition spell that would let the dragon and I understand each other. "translationem lingua"
"Norberta can you hear me?" I asked.
She tilt her head as a dog would do if it was confused.
"I know you might be confused on why you can understand me, but listen please. Just for a second!"
"You probably don't remember me... But two years ago you hatched here... In Hogwarts. Your owner, Hagrid, he cared for you until you were taken away. I know... I know what it means to be taken away from family without consent. Trust me I know! I can help you! I can help you get out of this place! All you have to do is let me get the egg!"
The dragon stepped closer and I stepped back. "Tomorrow! Tomorrow before you are sent back I'll unlock your cage. I promise! I swear! I swear on my life you'll be free!"
Instead of answering, Norberta moved to the side, granting me a path. I slowly and cautiously moved to the egg until it was in front of me. I looked back at my dragon and thanked her. I then picked up my egg with my right hand and the crowd cheered. I was alive, I was okay. I was ready to sleep.
*\ I'm sorry I took to long and kinda rushed through this... If this was cliche I'm sorry but I always felt bad for Norberta and she deserved to be feee(: \*
