I walk into homeroom, searching for the blonde-haired boy, Nate, that Seth told me about. I catch him sitting on top of a desk, talking to a brunette boy in the seat beside him. I sit cross-legged on the desk behind them both, which is in the very last row at the back of the classroom.
"Excuse me, but are you Nate?" I ask him, facing him and both he and his other friend turn to look at me.
"Uh, who told you that?" He replies, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Seth, he said he was your friend. I met him by my locker."
"Oh, okay cool. Thought you were some sort of stalker," He states with a sigh of relief. "This is Max, and you are?"
"Cass. Well, Cassidy actually but Cass is what I go by. Seth told me I had homeroom with you, and to tell you hi for him. So, uh, hi. From Seth."
"Okay then. Well, we should probably sit in our seats and not on our desks. Sorta the respectful thing to do." I get off the desk and into my seat. a few moments before Mr. Sanders walks in.
"Hello class, we have a new student here for her senior project, Cassidy. If you'd stand up please, miss Leanords." He says, gesturing to me in the back with his hand. I reluctantly stand up in the room as everyone stares at me.
"If you could call me Cass that'd probably be better. No one calls me by my full name, just saying," I tell them, sitting back down in my seat.
"Very well then. If you guys could all maybe get along with her for the time she's here and make her welcome, it'd be great for the school's reputation. Talk amongst yourselves now."
I spend the rest of homeroom obviously getting to know Nate and Max. They're both a bit into sports, Nate being lacrosse obviously as he's wearing lacrosse shorts and Max being soccer. I'm not really one or sports, but I work out with Skylar when I have to, so I don't get chubby like I was in 7th grade. I cringe at the thought of being like that again. Ugh.
Somehow, I manage to find where 1st period, AP Biology with Mr. Ford, is. Seth is already sitting down near the window and waves me over. I choose the seat between him and an african american girl, looking intensely at her notes and a book, writing down additional sentences.
"Seth, who's the girl?" I whisper to him as I look over my shoulder at her.
"Oh, her? Thats Kara. She's working really hard to get into an ivy league college." He laughs. "I have my heart set on California Tech. Computer engineering!"
"Wow, you're quite the nerd, aren't you!" I fake gush at him.
"Yep. Asian genes kicking in, my dear Cassidy."
"No."
The teacher enters the room, and I can already tell that this will be a long first day.

Tuesday passes by uneventful, the only few things happening is that I meet some people I have class with, I make friends with Seth's group of friends, a lit class pop quiz I wasn't really that prepared for, and I remember Ashley told us to be taking notes this entire time.
I decided to write them down in the back of my science notebook, since I would probably be checking that one the most. So far I had written down a few things:
