AnnaBeth's POV:

"Mom, I'm leaving for work!" I yelled while dashing out the front door.

"But you haven't had breakfast!"

"I'll eat something at the cafe. Don't worry! Love you!" I rushed to the bus stop just as the bus was pulling up. I was not rich enough to buy my own car but I was not poor too. I only have what I need to get by and a car was not one of them. Would I love to have one? Yes but I'm happy with what I have now.

I smiled to the bus driver "Good morning Bert".

"Good morning to you too AB." That's what everyone close to me calls me. No one really calls me Annabeth, except my mom. It's just a little too long. As I sat down, I started thinking about my dad. Today is the anniversary of his death. It's been 6 years and I miss him every day. All his memories are embedded in me. I would do anything to have just one day with him. I was planning on visiting him after work with my mom. This day is always hard on her but she manages to put a smile on to assure me everything is ok. I started to wipe my tears as the bus started to slow down for my stop and put a smile on.

"Bye Bert! See you tomorrow."

"Bye AB. See you tomorrow.

As I got off the bus, I started walking towards the cafe. It was another 5 minute walk from the bus stop. Too deep in my own thoughts, I accidentally bumped into someone and fell on my butt. Damn this person is hard.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't look where I was going!" As I looked up, I saw the most handsome man I ever met. His deep, blue eyes were staring at me and brown hair perfectly set. He outstretched his hand for me to grab and pulled me up.

He laughed "It's ok. I wasn't looking at where I was going too." He lifted up his phone showing me where he was looking.

I smiled. "Call it even?"

"Yea. What's your name, by the way, beautiful?"

My face started to feel hot. Oh my goodness, is he flirting with me? I've never been in a situation like this before.

"Uhh..."

"Are you ok?" He cocked his head.

"Uhh... Yes, uhh... Wha.. What was your question?"

He laughed again and said, "I asked for your name."

"Oh! My mother taught me to never tell a stranger my name." He laughed and shook his head.

"Alright, Ms. My-mother-taught-me-to-never-tell-a-stranger-my-name, may I escort you to where you're going then?"

I stuck my tongue out at him. I know, very mature, right? "No need. I'm just going work." I pointed to the cafe behind him. "In fact, I work in..." I looked at my watch. "Holy macaroni! I'm 10 minutes late! I'm sorry but I really have to go! Bye!"

I dashed into the cafe and realized that's what I've been doing all morning. I went to the back and found Mr. Cookies. I love his last name, although he hates it.

"Sorry I'm late. I had an incident right outside."

He wiggle his eyebrows. "I saw."

"Not what you think!" He chuckled and walk in Mrs. Cookies. The Cookies have own this cafe for more than 35 years and it's still going strong. They are like parents to me, as well. They gave me the job when I desperately needed it and treat me like their own. To say I'm blessed is an understatement. "Are you teasing AB about the situation outside?"

"It's not what both of you think! I'm heading to work!" As I headed for the counter, I heard both of them chuckled behind me as I shook my head and smiled.

A/N

Hey y'all! This is my very first story! I really hope you enjoy it. There may be mistakes so forgive me. Also, I've never written a story before so if something doesn't make sense, tell me. If really appreciate it! I'm doing all the writing on my phone because my laptop screen cracked! I'm so depressed about it. Lol. Anyways, I'm getting it fixed soon as school is in one month! The songs attached to each chapter has nothing to do with the chapters. It's actually the song I'm listening to when I finish the chapter. Some chapters and songs may match, though.

All names, characters, places, and storyline are fictional. Please DO NOT copy my work! Plagiarism is illegal.

Anyways, comment, share, vote, follow, read. Do something. I'm already thankful for having the opportunity to be able to write.

Thanks for reading and giving me an opportunity!
