AnnaBeth's POV:
I was wiping down the tables at the cafe when I heard the bells in the door jingle. I looked up and saw the man I bumped into two weeks ago when I rushed to work. He walked up to the register as did I. I smiled at him, "Hello. What can I get for you today?"
"Hey. It's you! How are you beautiful?" He grinned.
"I'm doing good. How about yourself?"
"I'm doing great! Thanks for asking." I nodded my head. "Anyways, can I get two coffees and one cranberry and one blueberry muffin, please?" I rung him up.
"Anything else?"
He shook his head. "No that would be all for now."
I finished ringing him up and gave him his total. He handed me his card and I swiped it. Once the card went through, I gave him the card and receipt. Curious I ask, "Why are you drinking coffee this late in the day? You don't have to tell me if it's personal. I'm stepping over my boundaries here anyways."
He chuckled. "No, it's perfectly fine. It's been a long day at the office and it's going to be a longer evening until time to go home. I have some work to finish, along with my partner. That's why the coffee."
I smiled, "Thanks for telling me."
"No problem. By the way, what's your name? Not that I don't prefer just calling you beautiful since Ms. My-mother-taught-me-to-never-tell-a-stranger-my-name is too long to say." He smirked.
I blushed and is probably red as a tomato now. I'm pretty sure he saw because he started chuckling. "I'm just teasing you, but seriously, what is your name?"
"My name is AB." I didn't give him my full name.
"Huh. Is that short for something? I'm pretty sure your parents just didn't write A and B on your birth certificate." He laughed.
I giggled and shook my head. "My mother-"
"-taught me to never tell a stranger my name." He finished. I laughed.
"It's AnnaBeth. AnnaBeth Karris." I finally gave him my name.
"Finally! I thought I was going to have to tie you up and force it out of you." He laughed. "I'm Nathaniel Quest. You can call me Nate for short." I smiled, "Well, fancy meeting you again then Nate."
"You too, AB. You seem like a nice person. How about friends?" He outstretched his hand.
I smiled and took his hand. "Friends."
He retrieved his hand and grabbed the coffee and muffins. "Well, I have to head back to the office now before my partner kicks my butt. He's always a pain. Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow."
I laughed and then waved. "I'll see you tomorrow. Bye." He walked out and some customers walked in for me to attend to.
------------------
It was 6 o' clock now which means time to go home. I finished wiping the last of the table before going back to grab my stuff. I told the Cookies I was leaving and they told me good night. I bid them good night too and left. I walked to the bus stop and sat on the bench to wait for the bus. I pull out my phone and plug in my headphones. I don't use my phone much. I don't have much friends that I'm close to. I just usually keep to myself. The phone is only to check on my mom or in case of emergency. About 5 minutes passed and a car pulled up in front of me. I don't know anything about cars but the one in front of me looks so beautiful. Black and shiny. The window rolled down and I saw two men in the front seat."Hey AB! Need a ride?" It was Nate! The other looks familiar though.
"You know brown eye girl?" The other guy ask.
I gasp and jumped up. "It's you!" Oh my goodness! It's that arrogant prick that I ran into a week ago!
"You both know each other?" Nate raised an eyebrow.
"Naw, she's just blind and didn't see me." The arrogant prick answered.
"Why you-" I was interrupted by Nate.
"Ignore him. Hop in! I'll drop you off. Please?"
"It's ok. I'll-" I got interrupted, again.
"Want me to come out and get you?" Nate challenged.
"No..." I slowly got into the car.
He smirked. "So where do you live?"
"Do you know where Paradise Ave is?"
Nate nodded and drove off. The ride home was silent. I feel eyes on me but didn't dare look. I just stare out the window. After ten minutes of excruciating silence, we finally arrived on my street. "It's the only yellow brick house on the left."
"Wow. This is what you call home?" Nate said.
I smiled. "Yea, it is. It's full of love."
"I'll bet."
"Anyways, thanks for dropping me home. I really appreciate it."
"No problem, friend! You can ask anytime."
"Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow then?"
He nodded "Absolutely. See you tomorrow."
I turned to Nate'a friend and smiled, "Bye, you. It's nice meeting you again."
He dismissively waved his hand. I frowned.
"Don't mind him. He's just being a pain in the ass." Nate glared at his friend.
"It's ok." I giggled. "See you tomorrow." I waved at them then turned as mom walked out from the house.
"AnnaBeth, dear. You're home!" mom yelled from the porch.
I smiled and went to embrace her. "Hi mom. How was your day?"
"Oh same thing. How about yours? Who are those handsome men? Are you keeping something from me? You're not dating both of them are you? One of them?" She bombarded me with questions.
I laughed. "No mom! None of that nonsense. They're just friends." Well, one of them. The other is just a butt, I thought.
"Ok. Let's go inside. Dinner is almost ready."
"Ok mom. Let me go shower before joining you and then we can watch tonight's episode of Bones."
"Ok dear. Hurry!"
I saluted her. "Yes ma'am!" Then I ran upstairs to shower and get ready for dinner and to watch Bones.
