ARE YOU DOWN
Chapter 5 : The Morning After
Riqo Point Of View
Egypt sat on the counter, legs crossed, wearin' my t-shirt like it was hers. She was playin' with a piece of toast, actin' like she wasn't really hungry, but I knew better. That attitude from earlier had simmered down, but I could still see the fire in her eyes. She wasn't the type to let shit go easy.
I sipped my coffee, watchin' her. "Eat, ma."
She rolled her eyes but took a bite anyway, chewin' slow like she had somethin' to prove. "Happy?"
I smirked. "Always."
We ate in silence for a few minutes, just the sound of the city outside and the low hum of the TV in the background. It was a moment of peace, but I knew it wouldn't last long. Shit never did.
I wiped my mouth with a napkin and stood up, stretchin' a little before headin' to the bedroom. When I came back out, I was tuggin' my gun into my waistband, my hoodie thrown on over it.
Egypt watched me, her face unreadable. "Where you goin'?"
"Handle some shit."
She sucked her teeth. "That vague-ass answer."
I walked over to her, slidin' my hands onto her thighs, spreadin' them just enough to step between 'em. "Ain't nothin' for you to worry 'bout, Juice."
She scoffed, crossin' her arms. "That's exactly why I worry."
I tilted her chin up, makin' her look at me. "I'ma be back. You good?"
She hesitated, then nodded. "Yeah... just be careful."
I kissed her forehead, lettin' my lips linger a little longer than I meant to. "Always."
With that, I stepped back, grabbin' my keys off the counter. Before I walked out, I glanced back at her one last time, sittin' there in my t-shirt, her hair all wild from last night.
She ain't know it yet, but she was mine.
And I was gonna make sure it stayed that way.
