The tension in the room was palpable as JunJie faced Guang across the small, cluttered space of their living room. The air felt heavy, saturated with unspoken accusations and the weight of past discussions that had circled endlessly around trust and betrayal.
The demands of fame and the relentless pull of new projects stretched the fabric of Xia Zhiguang and Huang JunJie's relationship.
The distance between Guang and Huang stretched beyond miles; it wove into their schedules and seeped into their interactions. Phone calls became a navigation of weariness and forced cheerfulness, each trying to bridge the gap with words that increasingly felt inadequate.
This fire started from the Brand Event that JunJie attended together with Wei ZhiMing.
One night, as Guang scrolled through his social media, the flood of comments shipping Huang with Wei ZhiMing caught him off guard. The photos of Huang, laughing openly at something Wei had said, ignited a spark of jealousy that Guang couldn't quench. The green-eyed monster, as old as time itself, whispered doubts and fears into his ear, poisoning the wellspring of trust that had sustained them through so much.
The next video call was strained. JunJie, sensing Guang's withdrawn demeanour, tried to bridge the gap.
"Hey, I saw you and Yao Chen on that game show. You guys were hilarious," he said, his voice carefully neutral.
Guang's smile didn't quite reach his eyes. "Yeah, he's fun," he replied, his tone noncommittal. After a pause, heavy with unspoken thoughts, he added, "Seems like you and Wei ZhiMing are getting along well."
Huang frowned, picking up on the undercurrent of accusation. "He's a good friend, Guang. Just like YC is to you, right?"
"Maybe you're better off with your new on-screen brother," Guang bit out, the words a shield against his vulnerability.
JunJie, hurt and angry, retaliated with equal venom. "At least he understands the pressures I face every day, which is more than I can say for you right now!"
The call ended with a click that echoed like a door slamming shut, leaving them both staring at their screens, the afterimages of their angry faces burned into the night's darkness.
Huang JunJie began to notice the subtle, darker shifts in Xia Zhiguang's demeanor. Known to the world for his charismatic charm and radiant warmth, Guang harboured a complexity that went unseen behind the cameras—a duality that both intrigued and unnerved Huang.
"You started to change a little, Guang Guang," JunJie whispered to himself.
