It had been a few days since Maloi was taken. Each day felt like a blur of isolation and fear, the cold concrete floor and the faint dripping of water her only companions.

The chains around her wrists were unforgiving, but she had managed to move a little—just enough to stretch and ease the numbness in her limbs.

Every so often, someone would come in: Gelo, Nate, Akira. But it was Chie who haunted her thoughts the most.

“Ah, you’re awake,” Chie said, her tone casual but with an edge of something darker beneath the surface. She took slow steps toward Maloi, her eyes cold and calculating. “How are you feeling?”

Maloi narrowed her eyes. ” What’s all this? You're being pathetic right now, locking me for days and torturing me while I'm being tied down, you coward!"

Maloi let out a sharp breath as her right cheek stings from the slap she received from chie.

"Talk big now, later on you'll be talking to God"

"Fuck you." Maloi glared at her with her shaky breath and spit a blood on the ground.

Chie gave her a sly smile. “You don’t know, do you? Why we’re doing this, why you’re here? It’s not just because of who you are, or who your father is.”

Maloi’s heart skipped a beat. She had a sinking feeling she wasn’t going to like what Chie was about to say.

“You see, my family has suffered because of your father,” Chie continued, her voice quiet but laced with venom. “He’s been a powerful man for years, and people like him don’t care who they trample on to get what they want. My family was just another casualty in his rise to the top. My father worked for him. But when he became a liability, your father had him silenced—just like that.”

Chie snapped her fingers, the sound echoing in the empty space. Maloi’s breath caught in her throat as the weight of Chie’s words sank in.

“My family? My life? Everything changed because of him,” Chie continued, her voice rising with frustration. “We lost everything. My father, my home, my peace. All because of one man who couldn’t see past his own power. And now, you are on the list for seducing Colet to make yours."

Maloi was stunned. She had no idea. She had known her father was a man of power, but she never thought about the cost of that power. The people who had been hurt along the way. The lives that were shattered in the name of his ambition.

But she also knew her father wouldn't do such a thing unless it was needed. For now, she needs to go with the flow in order to be alive.

“I didn’t know,” Maloi whispered, feeling the weight of guilt wash over her. “I didn’t know any of this.”

Chie’s eyes hardened. “Of course you didn’t. People like you never do. You live in your ivory tower, thinking everything is fine, while others are crushed beneath your father’s boot.”

"I have lived my life quietly and begged for my father to do so, I do not care what's his business outside my life." Maloi said with a determination on her eyes beaming against chie.

Chie took a step closer, her gaze unblinking. “I have known that. But now? You’re the leverage we need. We’re going to use you to make sure he listens. And this time, there will be no escape.”

Maloi’s stomach churned, the fear inside her building. But she couldn’t show it. She couldn’t let Chie see her break.

"You're wrong," Maloi said firmly, her voice shaking with the weight of the situation but still defiant. "My father will never give in to your demands. And you won't win."

Chie merely smiled. “We’ll see about that.”

As Chie turned to leave, another figure appeared in the doorway. This time, it was Gelo—the man who had helped kidnap her in the first place. He was flanked by two other men—Nate and Akira. Both of them were dangerous-looking, their eyes hard and cold, like they had no remorse for what they were doing.

“We’ll be watching you, Maloi,” Gelo said, his voice dripping with disdain. “Don’t try anything stupid.”

With that, the group left, leaving Maloi alone in the basement once again.

============================

The phone call came through in the dead of night. Renato De Vera, the powerful and calculating businessman mafia, had been sitting in his office, staring out of the window at the city below.

His thoughts were heavy, consumed with worry for his daughter, Maloi. Every lead, every clue had only led to dead ends—until now.

His phone buzzed on the polished wooden desk, breaking the silence. Without hesitation, he picked it up.

“Mr. De Vera, we found her,” the voice on the other end said. “It’s Chie. She’s the one who took your daughter.”

Renato’s heart skipped a beat at the name. Chie. He’d heard the name in passing, but never thought it would come to this. He had no idea what kind of grudge Chie held against him, but clearly, it ran deep. His grip tightened around the phone, his mind racing.

“Where is she?” Renato asked, his voice dangerously calm, though inside, his blood was boiling.

“We have the location. It's an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city. Our team is already in place to secure it, but we need to act fast. Chie isn’t alone. She’s got a few associates with her—Gelo, Nate, Akira, and Mikki.”

Renato’s mind went into overdrive. Gelo… Nate… Akira... Mikki. He knew these names well. They were people who had been in his orbit, tangled in the darker corners of his empire.

But Chie—she was someone entirely different. He couldn’t remember much about her, but she was connected to the kind of loss and anger he had always avoided. The fact that she was using his daughter as a pawn now was unforgivable.

He exhaled slowly, his expression hardening as his thoughts turned cold and calculating. “Get the best men we have. I want eyes on that building. We're moving in tonight.”

Renato set the phone down with a snap, his mind still working furiously.

Renato De Vera, a man who had built his empire on the backs of deals, betrayals, and cold strategy, now had only one thing on his mind: his daughter. No one—not Chie, not her associates—would stand in his way.

He glanced out the window one last time, his eyes narrowing as the lights of the city flickered in the distance. Chie will regret ever thinking she could take my daughter.
