"Endeavor, was it?" The deep, choked, and strained voice uttered. With immaculate will, the man who burned--a living torch--lifted his fist and buried it beneath the earth's crust. "I know your flames. They bring light into the path of darkness, no?"

The asphalt below his heels bubbled, popping magma the more he stood in place.

"Yes, that is what you are. A light. A guide." A guttural, raw hum rumbled from the base of his scorched throat. "I am like you," he said, slowly standing from his kneeling position. "I am a light. I guide my people. I teach them--I help them. We...We are the same."

A vein visibly throbbed on Endevaour's temple. Seething, unbridled, and primal rage was building up within his chest. His heart throbbed--like a pulse of pumice coursing through each artery like a raging current. He gritted his teeth--the flames that enveloped him flickered to the beating of his chest. For the first time in ages, in his entire hero career, in his entire existence...he has never been this enraged to even be comparable with that...thing. He was nothing like him. He will never be.

Through grinding teeth and bloodshot eyes, ignoring his surroundings for the first time in his hero career, he bottled his rage and focused it all on a single point.

That man.

"We are not the same."

To fight fire with fire. Oh, how will that turn out for both?

"..." Aki frowned, his watchful gaze fixed on the TV in his room. "...That's...Denji," he mumbled, placing a finger on the screen displaying the chainsawman himself, gnashing and slicing away the creatures that threaten the city. The video pressed on, showcasing the Chainsaw hero slicing another one of those creatures in half.

His brows knitted. He grabbed the remote, paused the video, and fast-forwarded it before abruptly stopping.

"...Power." The scene displayed a hero hefting up a large red hammer, seen as a blur; on the other hand, a white, bony, spider-like creature below was ready to return a blow of its own, a tendril recoiling. Though static and blurry, he could deduce from the pink hair, the red, bright horns, and her fighting style that it was indeed Kato Ayumi.

Aki held his chin, deep in thought. Huh. He vaguely remembered Denji and Power going to the mall...along with Y/n.

He remembered berating them...before they left. He remembered...telling them...to buy him some gum, but...he doesn't recall.

The memory was...hazy. Like a barrage of ripples in a pond. Distracting.

Someone was tossing the stones.

...

If those two were out there...
