"You're so heavy!" I groaned, my voice half-broken as Raghav snuggled even closer, pressing his weight down on me. Before I could push him off, he pulled back slightly and kissed my forehead.
"I love you," he murmured, his lips brushing against mine in a soft peck.
I smiled but quickly shot him a glare. "You're supposed to be saying 'I'm sorry,'" I huffed.
Instead of apologizing, he smirked at me like I had just said something ridiculous. Jerk.
Just then, the mattress shifted beside us, and we turned our heads to see Shaurya crawling out of his attached crib. Raghav rolled onto his side as I picked up our little one and placed him on my chest. He squealed excitedly at the sight of us. Raghav stretched out his arms, and Shaurya immediately wriggled out of my hold to go to him, completely ignoring my existence.
"That was hurtful," I said dramatically, placing a hand over my heart. Raghav let out a deep chuckle, clearly amused.
Ever since I got pregnant, Raghav had taken a long break from work to be with me. Sometimes, I felt guilty about it, but it wasn't exactly my fault he got me pregnant. Still, this extended vacation made me feel like I was constantly competing for his attention. But oddly enough, he never seemed to mind. If anything, he enjoyed spending time with me and Shaurya. Instead of locking himself away in his study like he used to, he now worked from home and only went to the office when absolutely necessary.
Just as my thoughts started spiraling, my phone rang loudly, making me groan. I turned to grab it, my irritation fading into confusion when I saw the caller ID—Dhruv? Why was he calling me?
"Yes, Dhruv?" I answered, and immediately, I felt Raghav's attention shift toward me. His eyes locked onto mine, and I could tell he was listening intently despite Shaurya's playful squeals.
"Hello, Vahini! Raghav wasn't answering my calls, so I decided to call you instead," Dhruv said in his usual cheerful voice. I gave Raghav a pointed look, but he just stared back at me with a silent question in his eyes.
"Ishaan has invited you guys for a friendly dinner at his place tonight," Dhruv continued. "And I'd love it if you could bring Shaurya along."
I couldn't help but laugh at how sweet he sounded. "Of course! We'll be there," I assured him before pulling the phone away from my ear.
Before I could even hang up, Raghav was already throwing questions at me. "What did that As—" He stopped himself mid-sentence, then rephrased with a dramatic eye roll. "What did that clown want?" He moved his body that now his back was touching the headboard.
His glare told me everything—I knew that tone. He was jealous.
I smirked, watching Raghav's face twist with barely concealed jealousy. It was hilarious how quickly his mood changed at the mention of Dhruv.
"What did that clown want?" he repeated, folding his arms and narrowing his eyes at me. While Shaurya sat on his lap. I bit my lip, trying to suppress my laughter. Oh, this was too good to waste.
"Oh, nothing much," I said nonchalantly, stretching my arms as if I had already forgotten about the call. "Just the usual... calling me instead of you. Clearly, I'm his favorite bestiee now."
Raghav scoffed. "As if."
I turned to Shaurya, who was happily chewing on his tiny fingers in Raghav's arms. "Shaurya, baby, it seems your daddy is feeling a little insecure today." Shaurya simply stared as if he was trying to process what I was saying.
