The college festival planning meeting was nothing special at first. Just another gathering of students discussing logistics, throwing out ideas, and finalizing roles. Taerae sat among them, half-focused, letting the conversation flow around him.
He had expected it to be like any other event meeting routine, predictable. But what he hadn’t expected was Jisung.
Park Jisung was a name everyone knew. A senior in his department, respected by professors and adored by students. He was effortlessly charming, intelligent, and had a natural presence that drew people in. Taerae had seen him around before, of course... who hadn’t? But this was the first time they were in the same room for something like this.
And, as luck would have it, Gyuvin was there too.
Not that it mattered.
They ignored each other, as they had been doing for months. If anything, the presence of Gyuvin barely registered in Taerae’s mind anymore. Or at least, that’s what he told himself.
The discussion continued, ideas were shared, and then Taerae spoke.
He pitched an idea, something that sparked excitement in the room. Murmurs of approval spread through the team, but the voice that stood out the most was Jisung’s.
“I like it,” Jisung said, nodding with an approving smile. His words carried weight, being the leader of this planning team. “It’s fresh, creative. Let’s go with this.”
Taerae blinked in surprise. He hadn’t expected such immediate validation, especially from Jisung. “Oh… thank you,” he said, his voice steady despite the unexpected attention.
Jisung chuckled. “No, really. You’re talented. I can see why people talk about you.”
That comment caught Taerae off guard, but he brushed it off with a small smile. “I just thought it would work well for the festival.”
After the meeting, as Taerae made his way back to his classroom, he heard footsteps catching up to him.
“Kim Taerae, right?”
He turned to see Jisung walking beside him, his usual easy-going demeanor in place.
Taerae nodded. “Yeah.”
Jisung smiled. “Nice to meet you properly. I’m Park Jisung. I really liked your idea back there.”
“Thanks,” Taerae said, genuinely appreciative. “And thanks for approving it.”
They continued walking together, falling into an easy conversation. Jisung asked about Taerae’s major, his thoughts on the festival, and even a bit about his interests outside of school. It was… effortless. Jisung was easy to talk to, his energy warm and inviting.
And yet, behind them, Gyuvin was watching.
He hadn’t intended to linger, but something kept his feet planted in place as he observed the exchange.
The way Taerae and Jisung talked so naturally.
The way Taerae smiled at him.
The way Jisung seemed genuinely interested in him.
Something twisted uncomfortably in Gyuvin’s chest.
It wasn’t jealousy. Of course not.
It wasn’t.
Right?
------------
The festival planning team had become more than just a project it was a place where Taerae and Jisung grew closer.
