"What will I do without the green of your eyes?
That even the day no longer wants to shine
And for good
These hands that inhabit you
And for bad
Today I miss you more than yesterday
It had to be you
For better or for worse, it had to be you"

Warner's head is on my lap.
His face is smooth and calm and peaceful in a way that makes him look like an angel, and I almost reach out to stroke his hair before I remember exactly how awkward this actually is.
I'm cradling Warner. Warner. The man I was supposed to hate, the man I was supposed to kill, the man whose blood is soaking through his clothes and onto my hands.
I look to my right.
Warner's legs are resting on Adam's knees and he looks just as uncomfortable as I am.
I shift slightly, my fingers brushing the sodden fabric of his sleeve, and my stomach clenches. He's still bleeding.
"Kenji," I call, voice low but urgent. "I need a first-aid kit. Right now."
Kenji's eyes flick up to the mirror. "Yeah, under the seat. Hang on." He reaches down with one hand, rummages blindly for a second, then yanks out a dented metal box. "Catch."
I do. Barely.
The kit is lighter than I expected, and when I flip it open, I understand why. It's almost empty.
The tank rumbles around us, bouncing over uneven terrain, but I steady myself, inhaling sharply as I flip the kit open.
"You know," Adam mutters, shifting as if that might somehow make Warner less on top of him, "if we're going to keep collecting half-dead psychopaths, we should at least invest in a bigger vehicle."
"Hang tight, guys," Kenji says, still driving the tank toward Omega Point. "I know this is about a million different kinds of weird, but I didn't exactly have enough time to think of a better plan."
He glances at the 3̶ 4 of us but no one says a word until, "I'm so happy you guys are okay." Juliette says, like those 9 syllables have been sitting inside of her for too long. "I'm so, so happy you're okay."
