In the days following Prince John's daring warning, Sherwood buzzed with a mixture of relief and unease.
Robin's friends couldn't ignore the prince's help during the sherrif's trap, but trust wasn't easily given, especially when it came to royalty.
Little john voice his concerns while sharpening his axe near the campfire.
"I don't like this, Robin." Little john muttered, watching his friend fiddle with an arrow.
"One minute, the prince is raising taxes and ordering raids, and the next, he's running into the woods to save you. It doesn't add up."Robin, perched on a low tree branch with an air of casual defiance, smirked. "People can change, you know."
"Change or scheme?" Marian interjected, sitting cross-legged beside little john.
Her sharp eyes scanned Robin's face for answers.
"We can't forget who he is, Robin." Prince john may have helped you, but he's still the sherrif's ally. What if he gets caught sneaking off to warn us? What if he decides we're not worth the risk?"
Robin hesitated, the weight of her words sinking in. He couldn't deny the danger or the precarious nature of his connection with john.
But beneath all of that was a certainty he couldn't explain, a gut feeling that john wasn't just playing a game.
"I'll handle it," Robin said at last, hopping down from the branch. "I trust him."
"Let's hope that trust doesn't get us all caught," Marian replied, her voice softer but no less serious.
Little john grumbled in agreement, but he didn't press further.
