"Rory Jordan!"

The brown haired girl rolled her eyes and looked over at Stephanie Styles.

"What, Steph? I'm trying to find my mascara," Rory asked. Stephanie rolled her eyes.

"I was just going to tell you it's in your hand, goof ball," she giggled, taking Rory's wrist and showing her.

Rory smiled.

"Just don't tell the boys I was being a stupid head," she warned. "Or I will tell them it was you who stole Ben's hat the other day."

Stephanie rolled her eyes.

"Fine!" The blonde girl cried. "Just hurry so you can get your costume on."

Rory quickly finished her makeup and she exited the dressing room.

She turned the corner and bumped into someone.

"Sorry..." Rory said and then saw who it was. "Oh, Dan!"

"Hey, Ace," Dan joked.

"Cowboy," Rory laughed. Dan took her left hand and showed it to her.

"As beautiful as this engagement ring is, you have to take is off," he teased.

"Sure, Dan. We all know you want me to take it off because your jealous you don't get to wear the ring in this relationship," Rory fired back.

Dan laughed and kissed her quickly.

"Just get dressed. You can't do opening night in Pennsylvania in jeggings and converse."

-

Rory waited backstage, waiting for the terrace to be pushed on.

She leaned against the railing like she was supposed and exchanged a quick smile with Zachary and blew Dan an overdramatic kiss.

"Love you," she mouthed to her fiancé.

Rory felt the set piece under her begin to move.

She felt the spotlight hit her face.  Rory let Grace Bart take over her.

-

The show flew by and it was after Santa Fe. Her solo. She walked to the edge of the terrace and gripped the railing.

"Good night, Jackie-Boy," she said to Dan.

"Night," was the reply. Rory took a deep breath. Her solo was a sadder version of I Never Planned On You, to counter the version Dan had sung about her earlier.

"I got no use for moonlight

Or sappy poetry

Love at first sight's for suckers

At least it used to be..." She sang quietly, turning her head to look wear Dan was lying.

"You weren't so nice, once or twice

But I never found someone new...

And I've never planned on someone like you!" She sang out.

She repeated the first section again, fake carving the word Pulitzer on the railing, the word being scrawled above on the big scenes.

"Watcha doin'?" Dan asked. Rory whipped around, slapping her hands over the "carving".

"N-nothing," she lied quickly. "Go back to sleep, Jack."

"Alright then, Gracie," he sighed. Rory turned back and finished her song.

"And I've never planned on someone like you!" She finished, holding the final note. She knelt and lay her hands on the railing, hands on her opposite elbow. She buried her head on her arms and pretended to cry until the lights faded out.

-

At the end of the show, Rory kissed Dan quickly.

"Nice job, Dan. Though, you nearly dropped me during the lift," she scolded.

Josh laughed from next to them.

"I saw that."

Rory quickly slide her engagement ring back on.

"Jealous?" She teased Dan and he side hugged her.

"Nope. Just really happy. This was the best opening night ever."
