The 50th Hunger Games take place in a sort of huge ship with seemingly endless corridors and rooms, many of them holding extraordinary and deathly threats.
The Doctor is a mutt - designed to confuse and trap the contestants -, whose conscience is fighting hard against the Capitol's influence on him.
Clara is a brilliant hacker from District Three, who got reaped after her mother died in the same cruel competition few years ago.
Soon the unlikely pair finds themselves fighting side by side in order to survive, dangerously deep feelings developing for each other, feelings that one way or another will both save and end them.

Clara tapped the screen.
"Doctor. There is only enough power for one person to go through."
The Doctor frowned.
"Go then," he said, pushing her towards the entrance. Clara knocked his hands away.
"No! Doctor, I won't let you!" She cried. The Doctor took her face in his hands.
"Please, Clara. If I die, I will die knowing you're safe. The Careers are close."
Clara shook her head.
"Go, Doctor. It's my turn to save your life. Think of this as repayment."
Clara pushed the Doctor, and he fell through the shaft.
The last thing her heard was Clara's dying scream.
