Indil's POV
I drew back an arrow and shot it into the crowd of orks across from us. They snarled and as though and invisible leader was giving silent orders, they charged as one. I turned to Legolas."I love you."
"I love you more. Please, promise me one thing."
"What?"
"You stay alive. You come back to me."
"I promise, Legolas." I kissed him gently, then drew my sword as the host approached. I slashed at anything ork-like that came near.
The ground became churned up dust, and the rocks ran slick with blood. I shot an arrow at one ork and it raised its sword. The arrow deflected off and came straight back at me. It pierced my stomach, and I stumbled back with a cry of pain. The ground rushed to meet me, and I fell into its embrace. Someone screamed my name. Aranel?
Strong arms lifted me up slightly. I saw it was Legolas.
"Legolas, I'm sorry. I can't come back with you." I coughed, making my whole body shudder.
"No! Indil, stay with me!" Legolas clutched my head to his chest. "You promised!" A sob came into his voice.
"Just know, I died to help Frodo. I died for my friends, and for victory."
"You are not dying! Please, Indil don't leave me!" A smile flitted across my face.
"Legolas, return to Gondor with Aragorn." I grabbed his hand. "Go home."
"I'm not leaving you!"
"I'm going, Legolas." I knew my time was slipping away. My fingers started to slip out of his.
"Indil, Indil, look at me!" The world grew darker, until the blackness filled my vision.
Legolas's POV
"No! Indil, no!" I felt her fingers loosen their grip, and her hand hit the ground with a dull thud. "Indil, don't leave me! You promised me you'd come back!" My voice broke, and tear streamed down my face. "Indil please..." I whispered. Her head lolled to one side, her eyes open, unseeing. Her spirit was gone. Indil was dead.
