It was the day after the final exams. Class 1A happily talked to each other, except for Mina and Denki, the only students who hadn't passed the final exam.
"E-Everyone," Mina cried. "I'm looking forward to hearing all your stories of how fun camp was."
"Maybe they'll end up letting you go! There might be a last-minute twist or something," Izuku tried to comfort her.
Sero stood next to Izuku and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Stop, Midoriya. By saying that out loud you're just jinxing them."
"They said whoever failed the exams would have to skip training camp and live in summer school hell," Denki remembers sadly. "We didn't pass the practicals, so we're doomed. Don't you understand, Midoriya?!"
The blond whirled around to Izuku, about to poke him in the eye, but luckily Michi was there and stopped his hand.
"Don't hurt my Izuku," Michi warned with a deadly look.
"I didn't want to hurt him," Denki howled. "I just wanted to ask him if All Might had knocked his brain out!"
"Then don't try to poke out his eye!"
Sero immediately intervened and said: "Ease up, Kaminari. I'm not sure I'll get to go, either. Our team only passed thanks to Mineta. I got knocked out and since we don't know how they're scoring stuff, I might have flunked."
"Wait!" Eijiro called out in surprise. I did just what Michi told me. Could this mean I might not pass either?!"
He desperately tugged at his red hair. Denki ignores his friend to shout that they should at least bring him camp souvenirs!
The classroom door opened and Aizawa-Sensei stepped in.
"Once the bell rings you should be in your seats.", the teacher reminds his naughty students, who all immediately sit down.
He shuffles to the teacher's desk.
"Morning. Unfortunately, there are a few of you who did not pass your final exams. So when it comes to the training camp in the woods...Everyone is going!"
"It's a last-minute twist!", the affected students screamed in a mixture of relief and anticipation.
"The good news is that no one bombed the written exam.", Aizawa-Sensei continued. "Four failed the practical badly. One team, of course, and then Sero and Kirishima, even if it was only for a few points it counts."
"Aw! Crap, I knew it. Mineta made it to the gate, bought I didn't do close enough to pass," Sero whines.
Kirishima lost his will to live and he formally collapsed in his chair.
"That's not fair!"
"Life isn't fair, get over it," said Aizwa-Sensei dryly. "Allow me to explain. For the practical battles, the teachers made sure to leave a way for the students to win. Otherwise, you never would have stood a chance. We were interested in observing how you each worked together and approached the task at hand."
"But didn't you promise that the teachers wouldn't be holding back?" Ojiro interjected.
"That was just to get you on edge. Besides, the training camp will focus on building your strength, Those who failed need those lessons the most. We were never going to separate you. That was just a logical deception we used."
"A logical deception?" the failed ones repeated in disbelief.
Tenya was angry that Aizawa had tricked them again and jumped up from his seat.
