Maya's Pov:

We were all walking without a destination.

"Where are we going?" Jacob asked.

"Uh. I'm not sure. Maybe we should just head back to the house and hang there until we think of something." Max responded from the front of the group.

"Cool. Jake's never been to your place. It'd be nice to show him the regular hangout spot." Kevin laughed looking at Jake. Jake smiled.

"I mean if he's going to be a regular at our hangouts then he needs to know where to go," Max stated. I could tell Max hadn't fully opened up to the idea of Jake being in our little group. He was unsure and I think he assumes we're replacing Eric. He couldn't be replaced even if we tried.

We arrived at our house. Max unlocked the door and we all walked in.

"I'm going to change. I'll be back. Jake make yourself at home." I said as I approached the stairs.

"Jake come on. I'll show you around." Kevin said. Max had disappeared into his room. I walked up the stairs to my room with Jaz right behind me.

"I saw you and him flirting earlier." She giggled.

"I was not flirting. I was embarrassed." I sneered.

"So do you like him?" She questioned.

"Jaz, please. Give me some time. You know what my heart wants right now. Unfortunately, it can't have that, but I'm trying to get over it." I say walking into my room closing the door behind me.

She plopped down on my bed staring at me as I walked to my closet.

"Do you really still like him?" She asked seriously.

"I've liked him for years, Jaz. It's not like I can flip a switch and turn the crush off." I spoke pulling out some white sweatpants.

She stared at me.

"I know, but every time he gets back with Aria, I see your heart break even more. I just want you to have someone who treats you like the only girl in the world and who makes you so happy you don't remember the bad days." She spoke softly.

I turned to look at her. I thought for a second before speaking.

"I understand Jaz. I'm trying to open up to Jake. I wanna give him a chance, but deep down I'm still going to be worried about Eric." I stated looking directly in her eyes. Her eyes widened and a smile crept onto her face.

"That's my girl." She giggled.

I walked to the bathroom and changed into a cropped tight black long-sleeve and white sweatpants. I brushed my hair and left it down.
