Every single one of their jaws dropped. After the rest of them shut up for a record of 1 minute I finally decided I couldn't live with those three being silent.
"Well say something! Otherwise your all gunna' look like a bunch of living zombies"
"I can not believe this. We're actually going to meet the Great Luna" Tracey whispered.
"Wait, so how exactly are we going to contact her" Janna said skeptically.
"Well, it kinda complicated. You see, we have to go to a special seer, who is apparently also a gypsy healer."
"A special who now?" Janna questioned.
"A special seer, as in s-e-e-r. A person who can be in contact with spirits, but this seer specializes in deities."
"How did you figure all this out" Lauren cautioned. She was the one who cared most about our safety, sometimes. Other times caution flew out the window.
"Three things: one, a lot of research, two, sneaking out at night, and three, total access to almost everything in this city" I said the last part with a smirk. They all knew my mom was the mayor, so I had 24/7 access to almost everything that was closed at night in this city. Knowing how secure and overly cautious my mom was surprisingly easy on me, at least now that I was 17.
"Okay, but how did you find a gypsy healer" Tracey wondered.
"That's actually the cool part. I was bored so I was rummaging around in the city hall library. I decided that I might as well make my time in bore-ville useful, so I went over to the wolves area and looked for a book about mythology and wolves. I found this really brand new looking book that was all about the history and story of different kinds of wolves. It mentioned a whole chapter on the mythology about spirit wolves. That's when I noticed the last to pages were glued together and formed a pocket and hid a piece of extremely old paper. It was all torn, brown and crumbling. I looked carefully at it and realized it said "2357.52 JT for information on the packs" so I obviously went to go see it. If found the area it was supposed to be in and I couldn't find anything there. I pulled out the oldest looking book I could find and there was a piece of string under it. I pulled it and this little latch opened and there was this journal. I actually brought it."
I pulled out the brown journal, which was actually pretty thick, with a string tied around it. The journal was made with moose leather and there was a small carving into the leather on the top of the cover of a wolf sitting and howling into the wind with the moon behind its head. It was the most detailed thing I had ever seen. I motioned for the girls to gather around me as I opened it. I pulled open the string and inside the front cover was a small piece of wolf fur.
"This here is wolf fur and in the inside back cover of the book is a blood fingerprint next to a blood paw print which I'm assuming is from the creator of the book."
"I wonder who wrote this book cause' the binding actually seams pretty new" Tracey said while opening and closing the book, listening to its new binding creaking.
"I looked into the library records and that book I found with the paper was actually a new donation. There was no name under the donation." I stated ominously.
Tracey put her hand up against the bloody hand print and measured the length left over on the fingers. She gasped. "This is the same size hand print as Mason." Tracey said as her shoulders slumped and her head hung. She curled up into her knees and held on for her sake of sanity. I knew what she was thinking. She'd been in the sheets with a Canis Lupus who wasn't her mate. The worst part was that they were still dating. I realized she was crying when she brought her head up, looking so pale and defeated when she hoarsely whispered being barely audible.
"What do I do" she said.
"We still don't have proof that it was him" Tracey added.
"I saw them" she whispered to herself.
"Saw what sweetie?" Lauren asked, in her motherly soothing voice, while rubbing Janna's back.
"His marks, you saw his marks." I said calmly. I knew the fact that I had said it out loud was just going to hurt her more, but if she was going to get this scab on her heart covered up she was going to need to let realization hit her with all its got and get it over with. As soon as I said it a fresh tsunami of tears flooded her eyes.
"Your going to have to confront him, Janna." I said while I moved over to join Lauren in rubbing her back.
"When should I do it, what do I say, should I brake up with him." She rambled on while griping her head extremely tight.
"Stop it your gunna' pull your hair out" Lauren chastised soothingly.
"Wait, Mason is supposed to pick you up later to go out for a picnic, right." Tracey said, undoubtedly feeling a little left out from NBATS (Not-Being-Able-To-Speak) shock.
"Oh my gosh, WHAT DO I DO" Janna started raising her voice which always attracted that little brother of Lauren's.
"Ugh" Lauren groaned at the same time getting up and walking to the door. She stood next to it and winked at us.
"Hey you know what you should do, you should" she held out the last should as she flung open the door and jake fell though it and onto the floor with a glass, again. Lauren picked him up off the floor till he was standing and used her hand to tighten his shirt collar so it could almost choke him.
"Get out of my room before I choke you" she said slowly and stopping very briefly after each word. Then finally flinging him out of her room and slamming the door behind him. When Lauren turned around she found the three of us in a little circle on the floor, with one space for Lauren, huddling around Janna's phone in the middle of us, on speaker ringing.
"Who are we..." She started
"Shhhhh" Tracey put a finger to her lips.
I would have said something, but i was too busy trying to keep Janna from going into shock and saying anything to Mason while we called him.
"I'll tell you the plan after the call" Tracey said in a rushed voice to try and make sure Mason didn't pick up while she was talking. Lauren just sat down and nodded silently. The phone rang 2 more times.
"Hello" came over the phone.
"Hey Mason" Tracey said. When Janna realized that was Mason she started freaking out and I had to cover her mouth and make her hold still. New streams of tears started falling from her eyes.
"So we were wondering if you would come to Lauren's house to pick up Janna instead of her house, we want to hang out before you come steal her away for the night" Tracey babbled on.
"Alright, see ya" she said.
"Bye" he hung up. Then Janna finally calmed down and we lead her to the bed where she went to sleep. We didn't want to wake her up so we left a note on the door and went downstairs.
