Rossofern glanced up from the screen, peering at his two fidgeting operatives. Perhaps they needed a vacation. Tambly did inherit a farm from that crazy great aunt of his. They could both go, recoop for a few days, screw their heads back on straight-
"You don't believe us, do you?" Sykes interrupted his train of thought.
He managed a reassuring smile. Despite her past behavior, he rather liked the woman, she was a good agent, sensible, but this...
"No."
Both agents sagged. Tambly threw up his hands. "I'm telling you, we were in there for over a day."
"According to the log of your transport, you stumbled out five minutes after. Your pilot confirmed the time."
"Time was different in there, sir," Sykes interjected. "The woman came back to life-"
"This woman?" Rossofern spun the digital camera their way, displaying a scantily clad brunette sprawled across the drunken Tambly's lap. "She looks pretty lively to me." He tapped the scene to another picture.
"That's not all that's on there," Tambly snapped. "I took pictures of the sky, the scenery, everything."
"Aside from your little peep show here, the only other shots look like this," he said, flipping to a grainy picture of the night sky. The champagne colored barrier was nowhere to be seen.
Tambly dropped back down, wearing an expression of defeat. He felt bad for the guy. Whatever happened in there messed both his agents up pretty bad.
"Look, guys, I can't file your report like this. The upper brass will chew you up and spit you out. You broke protocol by removing your helmets. We'll say the air was contaminated, made you see things. You can take a paid leave of absence and get your stories straight for next week."
The two of them looked shell shocked.
"We aren't crazy," said Sykes, holding onto her knees.
Rossofern sighed. "I know that, but there's no clear evidence to back up your statements. The anomaly already dispersed."
"What?" They cried in unison.
"You are two are on paid leave as of now. Scram, before I change my mind and toss you in the clinic." Rossofern watched the two shamble from his office, thoughtfully turning the camera over in his hands. He took another peek at the brunette with the mesmerizing eyes, whistling under his breath.
What a goddess.
