Chapter 37 Danger in the night

Noa woke up in the middle of the night as she felt something wasn't right. She has served in the military for 7 years and now with her added powers her sense of danger is highly adept. So even if there is no basis she highly trusts them. She looks to her left and sees that the twins are sleeping very peacefully. But Gaia is also very restless as she is slightly growling. It is not very loud but she can hear it. Noa crawls over to Gaia and pats her to give her comfort.

Noa:" Stay here and protect the kids, I will see if there is something wrong." She whispers. Gaia responds by standing up, walking over to the twins, and standing there in a guarding position. 

Noa:" Good girl." She says and leaves the tent. Once she is outside she notices Wu Xian sitting next to the fire and pokes it with a stick in boredom. She dont see the others but they are most likely inside the tents. As Wu Xian hears someone approaching her she looks back and sees Noa.

Wu Xian:" Why are you out? Dont worry i can guard." She says confidently as she assumes that she is worried about her since she is a young noble lady. In fact in her experience only her brother would never worry about her guarding. 

Noa:" No, i feel that something is off." She says with a cold tone. Although her face is emotionless she can still feel that she is very serious.

Wu Xian:" Off? Are you sure. If there was i am sure that my brother would have waken up by now. He is after all the strongest one here.

Noa:" I am sure, my instincts are rarely wrong about this." She says as she looks around. Seeing her like this Although Wu Xian dont believe that there is anything. Seeing how serious she is she can not help but to stand up and check. After all better to be safe then sorry. She looked for about 10 minuets and did not see anything wrong so she turned around and walks towards Noa. As she approached closer she started to speak.

Wu Xian:" There is nothing, i am sure that you might just be a little sensitive." 

Just as she passed by the fireplace Noa senses something and as her eyes sharpen she runs towards Wu Xian. Before Wu Xian can react Noa pushes her aside. Both of them fall to the ground with Noa being on top of Wu Xian. Then Wu Xian witnesses a large green object smashing the ground where she stood. In such great force that a large pit. Both of them stands up and jumps back to create a distance between them and the green thing. Now that they have created a safer distance they can see just was about to have hit them. It is a large green vine. The vine mostly bare but it does have a few tiny thorns on it. The vine starts to move again but instead of turning towards then it digs into the ground. 

Wu Xian:" This is not good, this vine being controlled by someone. Considering the size of the plant and that we dont see who it is they must be at lest a Nascent soul. But no worries with brother here is should not be a problem."

As she said this the ground started to shake and both of them instinctively jumped aside. And they where right to do so. As the vine sprouted out from the ground just where they where standing. Then the vine moved to the left chasing Wu Xian. Seeing this Wu Xian started to dodge and run as she attacks it with fire attacks. But as she is below its level the fire dont do any damage. But as lest it slows it down. Seeing this Noa starts to help by shooting lightning at it but it has even lesser effect. That is because she is much weaker then Wu Xian. But Noa is intelligent and knew that this would happen so she only hit it at the same time and place as Wu Xian did. With there combined power it bought Wu Xian more time to escape its clutches. But seeing that they can not do anything to hurt it Wu Xian gets frustrated and starts to scream with anger.

Wu Xian:" Why is no one coming out? STUPID BROTHER WHY ARE YOU NOT SAVING YOUR PRECIOUS SISTER!?" She screams. But with that she is to slow to dodge. As she notices this she embraces herself to get hit and closes her eyes. She felt a force against herself pressing her. But strangely she did not fell any pain. As she opens her eyes she sees that Noa is laying on-top of her. At first she is relived that she has saved her put she soon notices that the plant has priced through her right shoulder. And seeing that she is bleeding a lot she tears starts to form in her eyes. She did not expect that a total stranger would get themselves hurt saving her. She is used to people looking out for themselves. Even she and her brother do the same. After all so many want them dead or want to use them. So she knew that the only one she can trust is her self and her brother. She never thought that a total stranger who is weaker then her would save her by using their own body as a meat shield. The vine then opens up its thorns and pulls back. Opening up the wound even more. The process is very painful. Yet Noa dont scream. Instead she bits her lips so hard that she starts to bleed. Noa fells cold sweet covering her body but the blood pouring out of her is warm. Her eyes are slightly out of focus. Just as the vine is about to attack again Wu Xian decides to push Noa aside put before she do so she notices that the vine gets burned alive. In just a few seconds the vine has turned into ash and she sees her brother standing there. With anger in his eyes.

Wu Xian:" Y...you what took you so long?" She cries out as tears pours down her face. Seeing this his anger is replaced with worry.

Wu Yichen:" I am sorry, i was attacked by a hallucinogenic plant. Although it is nothing to me, since i was asleep when it happened it took we a while to realize that something was wrong." Just as he completed the sentence she notices that Noa is gravely inured. So with a frown he picks her up and inspects the wound. As this happened Noa finely relaxed and fainted.

Wu Xian:" Brother, will she be alright? She used her body to block the hit for me. She... she saved my life."

Wu Yichen:" Hmm, I wont let her die. Do you still have the immortal crimson louts pill?" Hearing him mention this she gets surprised. After all this pill is a very precious used to increase there vitality. Once eaten a person who is near death can survive for about 10 days. So that they can get treatment. This pill is a 8 grade pill and as such very hard to come by. So much so that they only have 2 pills, with them having 1 each. As this is a life saving pill her brother has instructed her that no matter what she should never use it on someone else. As this could be her life saving straw. 

Wu Xian:" Ah... yes i have it... but you said that i can use it. I dont mind but is it really alright?" 

Wu Yichen:" I dont have mine on me, so we can only use yours. Once we return home, i will give you mine. She is our benefactor so it is only right."

Hearing this Wu Xian is relived and takes out a box made out of gold and sandal wood. The intricate gold pattern is that of a lotus. This box is a special made medicine box designed to keep the medicines quality in prime condition. As such a box is very expensive it is only used for the most precious of pills. She opens the box and inside is a crimson red pill with a dark red pattern that looks like flower petals. Looking at the petals one can she that this pill is of highest purity and as such the quality is very high. It is well know that the higher the purity is the less harmful it is to the person who uses the pill and the medical affect is much stronger then those of lower purity. She takes out the pill and puts it inside Noa's mouth. The pill melts in her mouth so they wont have to worry that she cant swallow it. Then Wu Yichen rips off his left sleeve and bandages and blocks the blood from pouring out. Seeing him destroying his clothes, his sister gets even more shocked. As he would not even do so for her, instead he would take out bandages or rip apart her own clothes.

Wu Xian: Brother, if you say that you are not in love with this women i wont believe you. She thinks as she is to scared to say it to him out loud. Once he is done he looks at his sister and asks.

Wu Yichen:" Did you get hurt?"

Wu Xian:" No, other then my back slightly hurting from falling to the ground. It is nothing."

Wu Yichen:" Good." He says with relief then continues.

Wu Yichen:" If she is to survive we need to hurry back home. You quickly clean yourself and i will wake up everyone. Then we shall hurry, there will be no time for rest."

Wu Xian:" Yes, but what about the children? They cant keep up and who shall carry Noa?"

Wu Yichen:" I shall carry her while you carry one of the twins while one of the guards carry the other. We need to run without stopping so we cant have them keeping us back. I am sure they will understand the urgency."

Wu Xian:" Understood." She sluts and hurries to clean of Noas blood from herself and change into new clothes. While she does that he wakes up the guards by killing another hallucinogenic plant that kept them asleep. He then gives them their orders and then he continues to the tent where Evior and Valery sleeps.
